Goldberg has a new book coming out (”The Suicide of the West”) and the triumph of sexual deviance as a late stage marker of cultural collapse would be a natural part of such an analysis.

I am ambivalent about the observation that perversions mark the end stage of civilizations. If so then Rome was in its end stages centuries before the end of the Republic and the advent of the Empire. That is a truly long decline. That said, I would agree that a civilization in which those perversions have been taboo since the beginning but have been rapidly stripped off are definitely at the point where they have slipped off the edge of the precipice and are rapidly approaching the rocks and breaking waves below.
