In the Democratic Partys reckoning following the election of Donald Trump, an unlikely feud has erupted inside an organization at the heart of the progressive movement.
Earlier this year, the board of directors of Wellstone Action an influential training group formed after Sen. Paul Wellstones death dumbfounded Minnesota Democrats when it voted the late senators sons off the governing board.
The ouster came after the sons, Mark and David Wellstone, raised concerns about overspending in areas of the organizations budget and after a dispute over the direction and priorities of the group.

David Wellstone and other Democrats close to his father began objecting last year to what he described as Wellstone Actions abandonment of disaffected Democrats in the rural Midwest the rural poor were an early focus of the late senator with an increasingly narrow focus on gender politics and people of color.

In a prepared statement, Connie Lewis, chairwoman of the Wellstone Action board, said the groups mission has not changed. But the groups staff and board of directors appeared to suggest a shift in the progressive movement since Paul Wellstones death, asserting in a statement on its website that a lot has changed over the last fifteen years and that the progressive movement also looks different today than it did when we first started.

David Wellstone took the language on the groups website that a lot has changed over the last fifteen years as an affront to his fathers legacy.
How I read it is Paul Wellstone is no longer relevant. It is the most untrue, un-thought-through and most offensive remark, David Wellstone said.

It would be interesting to learn exactly what overspending concerned the Wellstone sons, but the article didn't get into details.
WE WILL WIN WE WILL WIN WE WILL WIN!!!!!
Nevermind. We lost.....
A coup by the hard left the way they take over all the foundations. They love to spend other people’s money.
“It would be interesting to learn exactly what overspending concerned the Wellstone sons, but the article didn’t get into details. “
I am going to take a wild shot. Probably, there was an endowment that provided its income to the organization. The organization began spending the fund’s income as well as the principle.
Imagine the day that same thing will be said of the Clintons.
The Wellstone memorial was the removal of the left’s mask of moderation and morality.
If liberals werent such bad managers of money, and werent so willing to enrich themselves from money given to a foundation we would have a much harder time with them.
Meaning Wellstone’s sons are straight, white, male liberal extremists.
I was actually talking to a Communist about this. He is frustrated that social justice thinks everything is due to power and privilege with relation to race ... allowing them to ignore the poor in general and for elites who can claim victimhood based on demographics get to demonize poor whites or the poor in general who don’t understand the new oppression olympics.
The Funerally Fund?
The Wellstone sons are learning that their white skin is a detriment to the leftards on the board. The Left was happy to use their father’s name, and his foundation’s money, but poor, rural white people aren’t their concern. Enjoy the suck, boys.
“...as Wellstone Actions abandonment of disaffected Democrats in the rural Midwest the rural poor were an early focus of the late senator with an increasingly narrow focus on gender politics and people of color.”....
Duh...
That is where THE MONEY IS AT...
You don’t think limousines and private jets for liberal activist wannabe’s come cheap, do ya?
Do it for Paul-Do it for Paul
I ran into Trent Lott on the street & I was a Die hard Democrat at the time. I stopped him & told him I was so embarrassed at how he was treated at Wellstone’s funeral. He was very gracious.
Hard to believe it’s been 15 years.
The Wellstone memorial was extremely creepy. A switch was flipped. I am not a leftist so I have no understanding of it.
Even Jesse Ventura walked out.
