What is the purpose of Congress? It is to do its part per the Preamble of our Constitution to help form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty for themselves and future generations. To these ends, the Constitution charges Congress with certain legislative powers.
Amid the frustrating and year-long slow walking of documents to Congress, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, on behalf of fellow Deep State conspirators, contemptuously told Congress early last month, The Department of Justice is not going to be extorted. Extorted? Just who works for whom? What is going on?1
In the Framers Constitution, and without saying so, Congress is superior to the other branches. Lawmaking is the first feature of government and the lawmaking institution in every government from despotic to monarchial to republican is objectively superior to other institutions that exist to support, enforce, and adjudicate controversies under the law. In The Federalist #51, James Madison recognized the premier place held by Congress:
So naturally powerful was the 18th century legislative, the Framers spread it across two institutions with the members of each derived from different sources. And more, if the powers of Congress are limited to those therein granted, the Constitution curiously made two exceptions to powers it never granted to the criminal jurisdiction naturally vested in the legislatures of the era: ex post facto laws and bills of attainder.2
Nothing in the Constitution diminished another power: the unenumerated investigative authority of 18th century legislatures. Despite todays smokescreens and deceptions from the MSM, Congressional standing to oversee the agencies it created is historically and Constitutionally solid and undisputed.

The country is in the state it is in because for eight years it refused to do its job under Obama. It allowed Obama to rule by fiat. Congress has become a laughing stock, gutless wonder too concerned with feathering their own nest while foresaking the the nation and its people.
What is Ryan doing/ NOTHING. How bout McConnell/NOTHING. These punks plus Graham and others need to step up. Trump cannot do every damn thing for these pansies. We were all told that if we gave them the House they’d do all kinds of things. Then they needed the Senate, too. Then their excuse was they needed all three. We gave these excuse making punks everything, and; they cannot even get rid of Obamacare and build a damn wall plus pass immigration reform. We do not need anymore people here period.
Well said my FRiend!
Congress at one time did what they were elected to do for the American people as a whole regardless of party affiliation.
Now they do what is best for them to stay in power and do nothing for the American people that elected them.
As long as the money to finance the political campaigns comes from outside their districts and states the members of Congress will not serve those they claim to represent.
OUTSTANDING article, Jacquerie. BUMP!
“So naturally powerful was the 18th century legislative, the Framers spread it across two institutions with the members of each derived from different sources.”
“that in forming a constitution for such a country, great care should be taken to limit and definite its powers, adjust its parts, and guard against an abuse of authority. How far attention has been paid to these objects, shall be the subject of future enquiry. When a building is to be erected which is intended to stand for ages, the foundation should be firmly laid. The constitution proposed to your acceptance, is designed not for yourselves alone, but for generations yet unborn.”

Thank you very much PG!
Yep, Judge Robert Yates left the Philly convention early and presumably blabbed to NY governor Clinton about the proceedings.
Despite his Anti-Federalist writings he came around to supporting the Constitution.
But, by 1913 we forgot his warning to “adjust the parts, and guard against an abuse of authority.”
Government/Educaion/History/Current events BUMP!
