Three companies in Goodyear will bring more than 1,200 full-time jobs to the West Valley between now and the end of 2019.

Ball Corp. is building a manufacturing plant while UPS Inc. and Chewy, Inc. will operate internet fulfillment centers.

Chewy opened in June

Chewy Inc., an online retailer of pet food and products, opened its regional internet fulfillment facility near Bullard Avenue and Van Buren Street in June. The 800,000-square-foot facility already employs more than 200 people but will recruit another 550 over the next year, a company spokeswoman said.

As part of a job development agreement Goodyear signed with the company, the city waived up to $260,000 in plan review and permit fees. The city will also reimburse Chewy about $930 for each full-time job it creates, for a maximum total reimbursement of $650,000. The full-time positions must pay at least $26,000 annually and include health insurance, according to the agreement.

Ball and UPS join growing Loop 303 lineup

Ball Corp. is joining Sub-Zero and Dick’s Sporting Goods along the industrial corridor along Loop 303 with an aluminum can manufacturing plant. The 500,000-square-foot building is already up, and it’s expected to be fully operational by year’s end.

The company has agreed to bring in 130 jobs within its first five years of operations, and employees will have an annual salary of at least $60,000, according to a job creation agreement it signed with the city last year. In exchange, the city agreed to waive up to $1.5 million in plan review fees.

In that same Loop 303 corridor, United Parcel Service is constructing a 970,000-square-foot facility and is expected to bring 500 full-time and 1,000 part-time jobs by the end of 2019. The company is hiring employees to have a team in place for the start of peak holiday shopping season in November.

The UPS facility will open by year’s end and be fully operational in 2019.

New full-time employees will earn at least $18.75 per hour and part-time employees will earn at least $10 per hour, under the agreement with Goodyear. The city agreed to waive or reimburse up to $1 million in plan review and permit fees.

Jobs: When and where to apply

UPS will increase hiring efforts at the end of the month for part-time package operations supervisors, company spokeswoman Kim Krebs said. Part-time package handing positions will open by the end of August, she said.

The company will then seek to hire about 600 workers in October to prepare for the hub opening later this year, Krebs said.

Job seekers must apply online at upsjobs.com.

Chewy will have 750 employees by June 2019, and it’s hiring full-time positions including management, administration, transportation, processing, packaging and shipping. People interested in applying can visit www.chewy.com/jobs.

Chewy boxes routinely show up on my doorstep. I think it might have something to do with my wife and her cat.

The Phoenix area economy is exploding...I just hope liberal Californians don’t find out. :)

Chewy= fast delivery, great prices, and great service. My border collie healer cross and my kelpie border collie cross will testify under oath. Thank god they don’t have opposing thumbs or I’d never find my truck. Great people at Chewy.
