Beto O’Rourke is running to replace Ted Cruz. Literally. Sweat pours off his lean, 6’ 4”-frame as the El Paso Democrat jogs along the southern bank of the Trinity River surrounded by 300-odd supporters and curious voters jogging along with him. Incredibly, they have shown up at 8 a.m. on a Sunday to join him for a double shot of politics and cardio. In between panting breaths, O’Rourke explains to me the origins of this novel campaign event, which has him running several miles under the Texas sun, stopping in the middle to take questions and lingering at the end to pose for selfies. “Some sadistic member of our team,” he recalls, “was like, ‘So we’re doing like six town halls a day in six different counties. We’re driving hundreds of miles every day, we’re visiting all 254 counties. What more could we do? Ah, get up earlier and have running town halls.’”

This pap aside, is Cruz seriously in trouble?

Depends on turn out, normally Beto would not stand a chance. But the rats are fired up and their are a lot of illegals in Texas. If the GOP doesn't show up and the illegals do then Cruz is in trouble. That is why this SC pick is so important. We need a candidate that will fire up the base and motovate the base to show up in Nov.

You misunderstand. I do NOT want a Democrat elected. Nor to any others that oppose Lyn’ Ted. Just we’re not forgiving him for his lies and Never Trump position. Seriously, has he ever publicly apologized? No. And he has a string of stab-Trump-in-the-back actions since Trump moved into the White House. Only a fool would seem him as reformed or onboard the Trump Train. Lyn’ Ted was completely trounced in the election. He’s a dead man walking, exposed for his lies. The very few people that support him are not enough to get him reelected. He should have stepped asided and allowed a new Trump Republican to run. Okay, Trump could have nominated him ambassador to Antarctica or somewhere to get him out of the way...

I fought hard against the Cruzers on FR during the primary wars of 2015-2016, but I always knew that Ted Cruz was the next best choice to Donald Trump.

They were going to play "the women" card on Cruz, too - just like they did on Trump - if you remember the "Mandy" smears.

Not sure if Ted would have had the nerve to jam Rapin Bill's women in Felonia's face like a rotten grapefruit, as Trump did at the debate.

Trump had those women heroes in place at a news conference in less than 48 hours.

I'm just sayin'.   

But Ted's our guy for Texas, and would be for the Supreme Court, too - if that wouldn't put the hurt on the Senate like the Sessions appointment did.

No, I didn’t care for his style of campaigning on the trail, but I do care that he is a staunch conservative and loves the Constitution.

He isn’t a sore loser, IMO. He has continued to fight for what his constituents want and can explain why per the Constitution even in an impromptu question.
