Therapists in the U.S. say they have seen a rise in politically-related anxiety under the Trump presidency.
Though a condition has not been officially named, therapists and patients have referred to it as Trump Anxiety Disorder, according to a report from Canadas CBC News.
Elisabeth LaMotte, the founder of the D.C. Counseling and Psychotherapy Center in Washington, D.C., told CBC that there is a collective anxiety among her patients related to President Trumps rhetoric and policies.
"There is a fear of the world ending," she said. "It's very disorienting and constantly unsettling."
She said that Trump critics who she treats exhibit similar behavior to patients who have a parent with a personality disorder.
"Whether it's conscious or not, I think we look to the president of the United States as a psychological parent," LaMotte said.
LaMotte told CBC that the condition is also common among Trump supporters, who often say they feel isolated by friends and family for aligning with the president or pulled into angry conversations.
Steve Stosny, another D.C. therapist, told CBC that he worked with a Trump administration official whose liberal-leaning wife and daughter were starting to hate him. The couple eventually decided to divorce, even though the husband left his post. The wife couldn't take it anymore, Stosny said. It's tough when one spouse is at war with the children."
Multiple therapists told CBC that they observed symptoms, including lack of sleep, excessive use of social media, feelings of losing control and helplessness, in their patients that they attributed to Trump-related anxiety.
National data indicates support for their findings.
The American Psychological Association found in a recent online survey that stress levels following the election are the highest theyve been in a decade. And the majority of respondents reported stress over the 2016 election and the future of the nation as factors.
The APA also found a correlation between stress levels and electronic news consumption.
Therapists told CBC that in recent months, patients have indicated that separation of migrant families at the border, the retirement of Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy and Trumps various feuds with other world leaders have all been triggers for Trump Anxiety Disorder.
Of course. 90% of people stupid enough to see therapists are liberals. Conservatives are staying away in droves.
But you probably don’t go to a therapist, nor do I. The libs go to therapy when someone calls them the wrong pronoun, or a supreme court judge is known to oppose “abortion rights”
Wonderful premonition of great joy
Not so much because Trump had won
But that HRC had been defeated
Those who live with anxiety have suffered
A self inflicted wound
God does not give us a spirit of fear
If fear is in our hearts
We put it in there ourselves
Or it is an act of Satan
Yes, I see that.
And thank you for this post!!
I had a smile on my face as I read it and the FREEPER comments.
I felt anxiety under Obama, but I didn’t go running to a therapist. And that is the difference. Liberals run to a therapist everytime they get their feelings hurt. Conservatives shrug and carry one.
They were crazy before Trump.
“Trump Anxiety Disorder.” - Fear of being healed.
Unstable B4 DJT. Looking for an excuse for their mental instability, need to blame someone vs the ability to cope with reality
Good grief snowflakes nice to see you are reacting like we did to obama.......................oh wait.
Senator Depressed Over Second Quarter GDP Numbers [semi-satire]

The announcement that the U.S. economy grew by 4.1 percent for the recently completed quarter sent Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) into a fit of nearly suicidal depression. If this keeps up it will reverse all the progress achieved by President Obama, the senator lamented.
During the eight years that Barack Obama was president the GDP averaged an annual growth rate of less than 2 percent and never once reached 3 percent for any of those yearsthe first time that this has happened during any previous administration since the statistic has been tracked.
Booker attributed the disparate economic growth patterns to racism and sexism, pure and simple. The same white bigots who refused to invest when a black man was president have come forward to reward the white man who conspired with the Russians to cheat a woman out of her turn to be the nations ruler.
The possibility that differing economic policies could have played a role in the differing outcomes was rejected by the Senator. A person has to be optimistic about the future in order to invest in businesses that grow the economy, Booker asserted. President Obama was a man that everyone I know was supremely optimistic about. The same cant be said about Trump. Everyone I know hates him and his policies.
I think the problem is that the wrong people are being allowed to make investment decisions, Booker opined. Trump has undone a lot of the regulations that gave the government the final say on how societys limited resources were to be used. If we were to examine the details behind the 4.1 percent growth rate wed find that the wrong products are being produced. So even though unemployment is at historic lows the jobs arent contributing to socially desirable outputs. This is not the direction our country should be going.
The Democrat expressed his confidence that the upcoming elections will show that voters reject the false prosperity engendered by the Trump Administration. When Democrats regain the majority in Congress we will put a stop to it. We will repeal the tax cuts, reimpose the regulations, and impeach the usurper who tried to impede the fundamental transformation President Obama promised would be his legacy.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass)a projected rival of Bookers for the 2020 Democratic presidential nominationsaid she felt sympathy for his depression, but called his approach to getting the country back on track timid. We can and need to do more than just undo what Trump has done. There was a time in this country when tax rates exceeded 90% of a persons income. So, I think theres a lot more upside to explore on the tax issue. Why should a person who earns a billion dollars be allowed to keep $100 million of it when there are so many poor people who need that money? Even a 99 percent tax rate would still leave that rich person with $10 million, which is far more than he needs to live on. Ultimately, I think we need to move toward a system where the government controls all the money and distributes it based solely on need.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY)yet another potential 2020 Democratic presidential contendercommended the forward thinking of my colleagues, but the most crucial issue for our Party is the abolition of ICE. Only the total elimination of all barriers to immigration will ensure the future electoral success for Democrats across the nation.

Not surprising when your starting point is mentally unstable.
Short trip.
In Orwells novel,1984, the masses were kept in a state of perpetual agitation by being compelled to watch a daily Two Minute Hate video where the face of the nemesis Emmaual Goldstein was projected with scenes of soldiers committing atrocities and other scenes which drove the viewers into states of screaming rage against the party enemies. Today CNN is emulating this type of hated against Trump 24/7. No wonder that anyone watching this has anxiety if not paranoia.
No, my children (homeschooled) diagrammed sentences. Now that they have children (homeschooled), theyll be diagramming, too.
Pure BS.
Hopefully they will all be on Xanax by the election and fall asleep before they remember to vote.
Apparently you endorse consuming strangers body fluids.
Mostly swamp members or swamp supporters. Not surprising, their world is being rocked. Thank God.
