Eviation Chooses Prescott as US Headquarters (Electric Powered Aircraft)

Prescott, AZ – August 2, 2018 – Eviation, an Israeli startup pioneering the industry’s first all-electric aircraft, selected Prescott for its US corporate headquarters. Eviation will open an office at the former Guidance Aviation building, at the Prescott Municipal Airport in August.

The decision came following months of discussions in the greater community and across the state.

“We met with their CEO, Omer Bar-Yohay and his team twice over the course of the past year, and connected them with local resources like Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Yavapai College and others,” said Lamar. “Our Economic Development Consultant Jim Robb connected them with local resources, stakeholders, investment and commercial space.”

Interesting concept.

Glad that this company located here as the closest US Interstate Highway is 50 miles away.

An all-electric light sport aircraft makes a lot of sense.

Oops, looks like Eviation's first aircraft will be a 9 passenger commuter.

One big problem is this plane has never made it off the ground. The only thing they have that’s flown is a one third size drone.

“An all-electric light sport aircraft makes a lot of sense.”

Only if it will fly a few hundred miles. Battery weight would keep me from investing in this company.

Diesel aircraft engines, which are more efficient than the gas ones, are not used because they are heavier.

To me a diesel-powered plane makes more sense than a battery powered one.

The Light Sport Aircraft category is for recreational flying, usually just around a home airport. Electric would make sense as range is already limited by the category.

I watched the video, and read the article...My gut feeling is Eviation is going to make a lot of money.

Hope you are right. The Prescott area is doing okay economically now but not a lot of manufacturing jobs here except for the Ruger plant. Maybe this will make the difference.

I would guess extensive testing of their prototype drone proved very reliable. Otherwise, I don’t think Eviation would have ever never gone forward.

Btw, according to Eviation their Alice commuter jet flies in 2019.

“”After winning acclaim last October at a Wall Street Journal-branded global technology conference in Laguna Beach, California, Eviation received what Bar-Yohay calls “a tsunami of interest and investment.” He expects the full-size Alice to be test-flown—with a pilot onboard—in 2019.””

If they’re successful, they will be very successful in my humble opinion. According to Eviation, estimates that carriers would need less than four years to recoup their investment through savings on fuel and maintenance costs. If it comes anywhere close to that, this thing will really get off the ground.

I’ll be watching!

And it’s pronounced like Press-Kit. The locals there will snarl at you if you pronounce it “normally.”

""Designed to take 9 passengers up to 650 miles at a cruise speed of 240 knots."" And it likes short runways!

Why are they calling it a jet?

I dunno. According to their site, I think they call it the, “Alice Commuter”. Without the props, it definitely appears like some type of corporate commuter jet..

People pronounce Prescott as either Press-kit or Press-cut. To avoid the controversy when people ask where I live I just say PV (Prescott Valley).

...

How long will it take for the FAA to certify it for commercial service?

Have they applied to the FAA for a type certificate yet or had any discussions with them?

Such an inaccuracy is inexcusable for a company that wants to produce a commercial aircraft.

What inaccuracy is that? According to their website, the word "Jet" never appears. I think it might have been what some media sites used. I dunno...But I wouldn't get too excited about that. ☺
