Pretty decisive Only 29% for Ward. Blame Arpaio I guess. Ward is now damaged for the 2020 McCain rerun. We can only hope that turnout was high.

Oof. The anti-McSally vote split pretty evenly. Lot of finger-pointing in AZ tonight, I bet.
I know a lot of people didn’t want Arpaio to run. But I probably would have voted for him. Whatever else, he has a long record of serving his constituents the best he could.

I’m not sure I understand the second sentence, but it sounds like Ward was groomed for another office and decided to go after what she really wanted.
I’m surprised Arpaio got 25%. I thought the voters would see him as a spoiler who couldn’t win, but could hurt Ward, and that they would not vote for him. Many did vote for him and he was the spoiler.
I guess they don’t have runoffs in Arizona is no one get 50%+?
What does it matter? Arpaio was non-existent in 2016, when Ward lost head-to-head against McCain.
Ward ran a s--tty campaign and lost. Period, end of story.
I like JD. If lived in AZ, I’d vote for him. But a lot time has passed since 2010. Is he still a contender out there?

Reminds me of the Senate election in California in 1986. In the primary, eleven conservatives split up the vote so Ed Zschau (rhymes, appropriately, with Mao), the lone liberal, won with about a third of the vote.
Going into 1986, the seat was ripe for a GOP takeaway, but on Election Day in November, conservatives stayed home, voted third party, and some even voted for the Democrat, so the seat stayed blue.
AZ probably remembers when he was arresting illegals while an entire country told him not to. Whatever else, I don’t get the impression he would ever sell AZ out if he got into the Senate.

Mischief makers. My favorite was Ralph Nader in 2000. There are several Senate seats in the NW/Dakotas that went to Democrats because a libertarian was on the ballot.
If she can do better than McCain, it’s at least a start.
Hayward took on McCain and the establishment on OUR behalf. Unsuccessful but he was the best candidate who STEPPED UP to the plate. The seat should be payback.
Hayward was the best bet to take on McCain in 2010. He did it on OUR behalf. Reward him with the seat please.
McSally changed her tune long again, Trump has spoken highly of her on numerous occasions. She’s more credible than Doc Contrail and not senile like Sheriff Joe. Sheriff Joe embarrassed himself by running, he should have enjoyed his pardon and retirement. Now he can.
