Just finished binge watching the new series. I thought it was pretty well done. Sure made me want to kick some radical fundamental Muslim butt. Scenes from Paris with entire neighborhoods overrun with Muslims made me angry too. I recommend watching it if you get time.

I liked the book, can’t remember the title, where the Jack Ryan character was given a background. Also Rainbow Six was excellent.
If they stick close to the original it will be good. I’ll check it out, but plan for disappointment eventually.

The books written by Matt Bracken, Travis McGee (freeper) are waaaaay better.
Watching Episode 1 now.
I’m tempted to watch it all over again from the beginning. You know how we miss so much in the first viewing of a lot of shows and movies.

Clancy’s books translate to film pretty well. Not too many authors have been so lucky.

He got me to start reading his books and they are excellent!
I am worried it is all mindless action, inconsistent with Jack Ryan’s character. Jack Ryan was a brilliant analyst and won with his mind, not with roundhouse kicks, uppercuts, and spray and pray. The commercial made it look like an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. Just a lot of shooting, explosions, and car chases. If it is a TV version of Jack Ryan, I don’t want it. If it is an intelligent, cerebral TV show where Ryan has to match wits with his opponents to prevail, then I would give it a test drive.
