I thought Flag rank was the minimum requirement for the Naval Academy cemetery. Maybe senator is equivalent protocol-wise, considering senator egos I can see it.

It was the Establishment’s funeral. Kicking and screaming all the way.

Probably the most appalling thing was to invite Ivanka Trump and her husband and then cruelly humiliate them.

Is it possible, can it be believed, that their hatred could possibly be so raw and savage? I pray that it not be so.

No being senator is not enough. The Secretary of the Navy can make exceptions and I guess that is what happened.

Just wondering what was the total cost for his funeral?

Comments from a story on drudge ........

A “war hero” doesn’t finish 894th out of 899 and still get stationed at a Navy champagne unit and promoted ahead of all but two of his 898 other classmates.

A “war hero” doesn’t crash three U.S. Navy jets out of sheer incompetence and ineptitude, including two during non-combat training sessions.

A “war hero” doesn’t get written up on drunk-and-disorderly, fraternization, disobeying orders, and insubordination charges more than two dozen times in less than three years.

A “war hero” doesn’t get promoted to squadron commander of the air field named after his own grandfather immediately after crashing his third airplane. A “war hero” doesn’t have all the military records that cover his time in Vietnam and all disciplinary actions against him censored and sealed “as a matte r of national security.” A “war hero” doesn’t get 28 medals awarded all after-the-fact “for bravery” for no other reason than being shot down and captured and then go on a celebrity public relations tour because he’s the son of two acclaimed Navy admirals. A “war hero” doesn’t repeatedly cheat on the wife who’s back in the states waiting for him, and then cheat on her more when he returns to the states, and then divorce and abandon her.

A “war hero” doesn’t systematically vote against every single pay and benefit increase for military and veterans throughout his entire political career, all the while claiming to be “the soldier’s Congressman,” and then take credit for the passage of a G.I. benefits bill he that voted AGAINST. A “war hero” McCain III lost jet number one in 1958 when he plunged into Corpus Christi Bay while practicing landings. He was knocked unconscious by the impact coming to as the plane settled to the bottom. McCain’s second crash occurred while he was deployed in the Mediterranean. “Flying too low over the Iberian Peninsula,” Timberg wrote, “he took out some power lines [reminiscent of the 1998 incident in which a Marine Corps jet sliced through the cables of a gondola at an Italian ski resort, killing 20] which led to a spate of newspaper stories in which he was predictably identified as the son of an admiral.”

McCain’s third crash occurred when he was returning from flying a Navy trainer solo to Philadelphia for an Army-Navy football game. Timberg reported that McCain radioed, “I’ve got a flameout” and went through standard relight procedures three times before ejecting at one thousand feet. McCain landed on a deserted beach moments before the plane slammed into a clump of trees. McCain’s fifth loss happened during his 23rd mission over North Vietnam on Oct. 26, 1967, when McCain’s A-4 Skyhawk was shot down by a surface-to-air missile. McCain ejected from the plane breaking both arms an d a leg in the process and subsequently parachuted into Truc Bach Lake near Hanoi. For 23 combat missions (an estimated 20 hours over enemy territory), the U.S. Navy awarded McCain a Silver Star, a Legion of Merit for Valor, a Distinguished Flying Cross, three Bronze Stars, two Commendation medals plus two Purple Hearts and a dozen service medals. “McCain had roughly 20 hours in combat,” explains Bill Bell, a veteran of Vietnam and former chief of the U.S. Office for POW/MIA Affairs — the first official U.S. representative in Vietnam since the 1973 fall of Saigon. “Since McCain got 28 medals,” Bell continues, “that equals out to about a medal-and-a-half for each hour he spent in combat. There were infantry guys — grunts on the ground — who had more than 7,000 hours in combat and I can tell you that there were times and situations where I’m sure a prison cell would have looked pretty good to them by comparison.

Hell, even George McGovern was more a ‘war hero’ than McCain.

McCain, who died on Saturday, August 25, was finally laid to rest on Sunday, September 2, after eight interminable days of honoring, memorializing and rank demagoguery, all of which the amazingly egotistical Senator planned for himself. And so, the nation can heave a huge, collective sigh of relief... A fitting requiem for the Deep State... the Democrat Party is radicalizing to the far, far left, and the Republican Party is systematically getting rid of its establishment wing through primary elections and retirements. The Deep State GOP/Democrat “uniparty” that McCain, Bush, Obama and Clinton worked so hard to construct over the last three decades is already greatly diminished, and stands in danger of going away entirely should Trump succeed in getting re-elected in 2020. With our economy booming, Black and Hispanic unemployment at all-time record low levels, and tens of thousands of blue-collar and union jobs returning to America, the party coalitions of the past are being re-drawn in ways that will render the two Parties more readily distinguishable from one another. While this process will be difficult and fraught with peril, it will over the next few years produce a result that is far better for the country.
Thanks EyesOfTX.

Somewhere, Paul Wellstone is jealous.

Paul Wellstone was nothing like McStain. He was a good guy. I remember him on tv and he would never take cheap shots when debating others. But he had sons who grew up privileged and had big heads about their celebrity in Minnesota. They happily allowed the Democrat party to highjack that memorial service. Although I did not know Paul Wellstone, I really think that he would have disapproved of what they did.

McStain was bitter and vindictive. He spent the last year of his life carefully planning his own funeral in order to use it to damage Trump. It doesn't get much worse than that.

I think Americans owe the far left “media” a big thank you for turning an important part of draining the DC swamp into a major TV event.

I imagine Trump was consulted and decided to just go with it.

The media trashing of Trump on McCain’s funeral was uncalled for. Trump sent the big jet and did everything to make it easy for the family, yet was shunned and bashed in the process by one and all. He could not win on this no matter what and then gets criticized for playing golf the day of the big funeral.

Now what is he supposed to do, wear black and sit in his study at the White House for the day or better yet go to a different church and pray for McCain’s soul?

The Hypocrisy of it all never ends. God Forbid if anything happens to Trump ,how will the media handle it, non-stop Trump bashing all through a state funeral and mocking his family at every turn, yes that is exactly what I think they would do and do it shamelessly.

He could not win on this no matter what and then gets criticized for playing golf the day of the big funeral.

I will be following GD Blackmon. This is an excellent article. I was in a group of about 50 people on Sunday when the leader asked if anyone had watched the McCain service and only 2 people raised their hands. Personally, I took a Sabbatical from all of it, except for Tucker, Hannity and Laura and when the McCain memorials were mentioned, I paused the program and fast forwarded when the piece was finished.

Not by me. I applaud you!
