All you people who are not from Arizona really don’t know what you’re talking about.

We got out of it without another McCain in the seat, and Kyl is a big upgrade from the guy in the box. You won’t find me complaining.

Has Kyl been sworn in yet?

I believe Kyl has already said that he will only serve for a few months. Another special election next year. Who knows? McSally, Ward, and Arpiao may be doing it all over again next year.

Or he can be setting up the person who will seek the Rep nomination in 2020 by giving them a leg up with their appointment in January 2019. That person will essentially be the incumbent having served almost two years in the position.

Kyl has no interest in serving out McCain’s term, but he is a safe, reliable choice and will vote for Kavanaugh and other Trump agenda items. For once, the GOP is doing the smart thing politically.

Will he have to play it somewhat straight in hope he could get elected in two years?

I suppose that’s one way to look at it. Another might be that they wanted someone with experience to fill the seat at least until January who will vote with the republicans and President Trump.

A lot can change after the midterms. Hopefully not but it can’t be ruled out so Kyl is a good choice for a place holder. It also allows for more time to find a good long-term person who is electable in the 2020 election which is when McLame’s replacement will have to run to hold the seat.

Let’s just see how the midterms play out for the entire country. Arizona is 1/50th of the big picture. Yes, they say all politics is local, but there’s still that larger mosaic to consider.

That someone else is very likely a female McCain—else he would have just named his real candidate to start.

Pols generally are disgusting. Takes a special type to be good at, okay with, and even natural at the game.

When Kyl retired he had a 25 year lifetime American Conservative Union rating of 97%. While the ACU is a bit suspect at times if all are judged by same standard which they are Kyl is a shinning light we should be glad is back.

Typical professional politician. That’s why we need term limits and no pensions for politicians.

Respectfully, you are 100% wrong. This is a great strategy and while, yes, it might be about Ducey’s re-election it might get us two great Senators.

Kyl takes the job temporarily. If McSally wins, them Kyl resigns and Ducey appoints Kelli Ward, even more awesome, to the seat. If McSally loses in November, then Kyl resigns immediately and Ducey appoints McSally anyway, and she instantly becomes Arizona’s senior Senator.

Appointing Kelli Ward now seems the right thing to do, but McSally could lose in November. Appointing McSally now would probably guarantee that Krysten Sinema, the bisexual sorority girl, would win.

I’ve been watching these shenanigans now for 30 years and this is the cleverest one yet. Bravo, Governor Ducey!

Ducey could die before any of that nonsense could occur.
