Mattis at this point has had years to change this. He has done nothing. In fact, on his watch landnav and hand grenades have been removed from Army Basic and the pass/fail portion of the Marine Infantry Officer course has been removed. In the latter case, that the Combat Endurance Test was “unnecessarily” difficult for women has been cited in numerous sources as a significant influence on the decision to do away with it.

Very interesting that my comments under the article did not show up and these comments to me don’t show up when I log onto FreeRepublic. Mattis and Trump have done NOTHING to clean out this cesspool and throwing money at DoD while it is rotten to its core will do nothing to improve our military. Mattis is nothing but a caretaker, changes nothing and accomplishes nothing. He is no more a Mad Dog than some child’s stuffed animal.
Mattis has had nearly two years to fix this and has not lifted a finger. He is as worthless as McNamara, Rumsfeld and Carter combined. Maddog? That’s a bad joke on all of us who served and love the Army.
Ask yourself why Mattis has had nearly two years to clean this up and it still goes on without the slightest change.
Remember that Mattis is an Obama General, their motto was and still is, Career before Country.

Maybe there should be a special division and rank or whatever you call that. Some people could be Ranger Specialists, meaning they passed a section of Ranger school that's directly applicable to their MOS. Their ranger tab could be a different color for those that put a lot of emphasis on what salad a soldier is wearing.
I like that you granted that females have some skills and didn't just dismiss them because they're girls.
The fact that he spoke out against women serving in combat roles when he had little to no ability to do anything about it makes it all the more frustrating that he chooses to do nothing now. Mad Dog my butt, he’s like a little dog that barks through a locked gate but cowers when he finds the gate is open.

Exactly right. Ask any serious soldier, or any civilian whose life depends on good navigation, and you will find this in common: MAP STUDY before the mission/event is everything.
I agree. I don’t see the man who earned the name Mad Dog as being some kind of pussy.
