She called the chair umpire a thief AND liar. I have played, watched tennis for most of my life. Our daughter was a Division one HS, state semifinalist and USTA ranked junior. I have NEVER heard male or female, amateur or pro call an official a liar and/or thief and if it had happened there would have probably been a default called. The USTA rules are clear on this issue. She destroyed a racquet and she clearly cheated using signals from her coach.. She is coming to the end of her dubious tennis career and she knows it.
Serenas problem was, she was getting beaten badly by a twenty year old and in her usual mode of playing attempted disruption. IMO, she should have been also charged with a time violation because her antics went on for at least fifteen to twenty minutes in another attempt to regroup, counter fatigue and most importantly disrupt the rhythm of her opponent.
Serena avoids blood draws because she is a Jehoviahs Witness, supposedly. So the only drug testing that can be done is urine samples. She is completely protected by Katrina Adams, Pres of the USTA who should be forced to resign because of her outrageous comments during the trophy presentation. Just recently in a press conference she was asked about drug usage at which she became just as arrogant and indignant as when the umpire gave her a warning for coaching.
“...if I lost a point on the field for cheating when I didnt do anything...”
She was only warned about coaching, not penalized.
She was losing at the time. After missing a shot she broke her racquet and was penalized a point.
After berating the umpire non-stop she was penalized a game.
She was off her game all day, and had no self discipline.
If that was a colored lady Umpire and John McEnroe started in on her .. hmmmmmm.. that would be racist and sexist, huh?
Keep in mind, he didn’t discriminate, he was blowing his top all the time at anyone and everyone.
I don’t know
Lots of people thought he was a mother....
Neither sister is all they think they are.
Methinks they need to start doing Serena like they did John McEnrore!
Ban her for ten days or two months plus a fine whatever. That is what they did to John, but hey John took his punishment and came back and kept on keeping on!
williams is spoiled highly-privileged individual with no talent. She needs to shut up.
Can't argue with that but that's all it was.
In the case of Serena, hers appears to be racially motivated............
She was totally wrong even if the umpire had been racist or sexist ... and she knew it.
She was more entitled to win because of the purity of her race.
‘Nuff said. /s
The crowds performance there were, IMHO, worse than William’s display.
I liked him, saw him play at Stratten Mtn against Lendl in the early 80's. He was quite the talent as illustrated by his grand slam titles.
Williams is black and a woman, so the judge is obviously a racist misogynist.
Her opponent was half-black and a woman. You be the judge.
But she did not. The "cheating" resulted in a warning.
She lost a point for racket abuse when she slammed it to the court. (after having gotten the previously mentioned warning)
She was penalized a game for verbal abuse when she wouldn't keep her yap shut and repeatedly came back at the official. Even after telling the ump that she didn't want him to talk to her, she went back at him. She just could not shut up.
Yes. Thats what I think happened.
She knew she was losing and wanted them to throw her out so she could claim she was cheated.
It’s simple, there are those of us who obey rules and want to see them enforced. And there are those who do not want rules, do not want them enforced and who do not obey them. This is the bottom line for many things when it comes to the left.
In that case her beef should be with her coach. But in any case her behavior was outrageous and shameful.
This is like the third time she has had a public meltdown of this nature. Punk.
I don’t know of another sport where that behavior wouldn’t give you a ride to the locker room for the rest of match/game.
