I’m not going to debate with someone who clearly hasn’t read the article. I address the issue of identity theft. The system isn’t 100%. No system is 100%.

As I make really, really clear in the article, E-Verify is -one- component of an overall strategy to deter illegal immigration. One of the cheapest and most cost-effective elements.
Apologies, it’s been a long day and I answered more sharply than I should have. The system definitely needs to be strengthened, but current research shows that it is effective, though not foolproof.
It’s a useful component of an overall security strategy including tightened visa issuances, better accountability on visa overstays, border security, and more frequent audits and inspections of work sites.
