Pop smelled something funny, went to a lawyer, then stashed it in a safety deposit box in there in Israel. He was not going to travel with it and really didn’t keep it a secret.

His lawyer is still making comments on his behalf.
He’d be dead or in jail had he not followed his gut. His employer set up the first meeting.
The 10k in cash would have got him busted when he landed. The setup was waiting for him when he landed. Problem was Pappa d left the cash behind. So they arrested him on probable cause but never told him what.
They had hoped to pop him on the 10k and not disclosing it.

What we have been seeing is over the last two years is the Trump Administration scrupulously going through the US Government’s formal, official Inspector General internal investigation and Congressional oversight process to officially document the misconduct and determine disciplinary recommendation including potential criminal referrals
The nature of the process will probably shift from collaboration to open legal warfare if the Democrats take the House. One good reason to delay any action until after the election is that the strategy going forward is going to be very different depending on the election results so it could be wise wise not to take a position until there is clarity on how things are going to unfold
It’s more like a Greek connection. Pop worked on a deal between Israel and Greek Cyprus for a natural gas terminal. The US connection is that Noble Energy of Houston is in on the deal.
Looks like FBI/CIA tried to frame Pop for taking a bribe from Israelis, making him an ‘unregistered foreign agent’ of Israeli interests. It’s a transparent joke.
