I read an interesting analysis that the midterm losses are mostly give-backs of seats that were won by the party that won the Presidency in the previous election.

GWB won big in 2004, and Republicans gained 3 in the House after winning 8 in 2002 (which was an anomoly), and the Republicans lost 31 in 2006

Obama won in 2008, and the Democrats gained 21 in the House, but in 2010, the Democrats lost 63, erasing their gains of the previous two cycles

Obama won again in 2012, and the Democrats picked up 8,
and they gave back 13 in 2014.

However, while Trump won in 2016, the Republicans lost 6 seats in the House. So in 2018, there are no recent pick-ups to give back.

They might lose a few of those picked up in 2014, but that will not be enough to flip the House. In order to flip the House, the Democrats would have to win a lot of seats won by the Republicans back in 2010 and beyond.

Or maybe because you wanted some blog traffic that will
pay you some dollars and then you can get chicken, hookers & crack?

Most bloggers who redirect traffic to their sorry little blogs
are scientifically shown to be in search of chicken, hookers & crack.

Floridians are just nuts.

Andrew Gillum (D) is sooooo unqualified to be Governor or the mayor of a major city, it’s not even funny. His main qualifier is his skin tone.

He’s a graduate of FAMU, which boasts SAT entrance scores in the 400’s. Literally half of that required for Yale. Gillum launched his political career while still and undergrad at FAMU. He’s never done anything but politics.

Ron DeSantis worked his way through Yale and is a Harvard Law graduate. U.S. Navy JAG officer. He’s been both a federal and military prosecutor. He was elected to Florida’s 6th congressional district-Jacksonville.

They are literally light years apart and it is extremely distressing that Floridians would have voted for him to be become Mayor of Tallahassee and now consider the corrupt grifter qualified to be Florida’s Governor.

If the senate goes 57-42, Thomas has to consider retiring. They could probably replace him and not hold a hearing. Its not mandatory.

McCain dying (replaced by Rep Kyle) did not affect the senate balance...

That depends on your opinion of McCain's politics.

I heard on TV this morning that the early voting in TX exceeded every other midterm, and every Presidential year except 2016 (and that by only about 20,000 votes). Over 5 million Texans voted early out of about 15 million voters.

I voted last week so as to avoid the other 10 million who will vote tomorrow.

I must say that I have developed a distinct liking for Beto O’Rourke. After all, the guy is the son-in-law of folks worth about $20 billion, and not only are they not contributing much (or anything) to his campaign, but he has sucked in about $70 million from around the country that could have been used for other campaigns against Republicans. You really have to hand it to him...he’s the best thing to happen to the R’s in a long while (like since Obama sucked all of the oxygen out of the air in 2014).
