The Power of the Purse
November 7, 2018 | Allan J. Favish

Posted on 11/07/2018 3:42:49 AM PST by AJFavish

I assume that next year the Democrats who run the House will refuse to appropriate sufficient money for:

1. the military; 2. Immigration and Customs Enforcement; 3. border enforcement generally, including restrictions on immigration from countries that send people who we cannot vet; 4. enforcement of various Trump Executive Orders, including one that denies automatic U.S. Citizenship to children of illegal aliens born in the U.S.; 5. U.S. Government litigation in defense of programs and policies that the Democrats do not like; 6. grants and loans to, and other cooperation with Israel; 7. enforcement of sanctions against Iran; 8. enforcement of tariffs and other trade measures against Communist China; 9. enforcement of laws against racial discrimination when the discrimination is against whites and Asians who are targets of an "affirmative action" program; 10. any program that seeks to undermine the proposition that human activity is causing the earth's climate to change; 11. any program that encourages anything other than abortion as a birth control solution; 12. enforcement of anti-voter fraud laws; 13. any state that has a photo identification requirement for voting; 14. any state that prohibits voting by felons; 15. any state that allows electricity to be produced by anything other than wind and solar power; 16. any state that has restrictions on abortion.

Feel free to add to the list.

If the Republican-controlled Senate and Pres. Trump refuse to approve a budget that includes such monetary restrictions, there will be a battle as some Government functions cease because of the lack of spending authorization. The Democrats who run most of the dominant media will portray the House Democrats in the best light, and the Republicans in the Senate and Pres. Trump in the worst light. How long will the "shutdown" last?

Maybe the House Democrats will not do any of this. How far will the House Democrats go? How many flies will Renfield eat?

For the many millions they spent (and the mainstream media’s daily fake news) they sure didn’t get much...

I posted these comments on another thread, but they fit here too.

I think it's safe to say the MSM beat us this year.

Take the issue of illegal immigrant families being split. We all know that tens of thousands of families were split under Obama as a result of the same policies, never mind the hundreds of thousands that have been split as a result of the high incarceration rates in Democrat run cities. None of that stopped the MSM from successfully making us own the issue.

I could name others. "I'll have more flexibility after the election" and uranium-gate. Blacks being murdered in Democrat run cities. The list goes on and on of issues that we should have made the Democrats own, but the MSM succeeded in making us own them instead.

I know it feels good to look at Rather-gate as an example of what we can accomplish, but that was 14 years ago. We need to find ways to counter the MSM's saturation of leftist viewpoints as it stands today.

IMHO

They do not have enough votes in the House to cause major problems. They BARELY have control of the house.

It will be an orgy of pettiness and stupidity. Asinine “investigations” and showboating. Passing bills that haven’t a chance in hell of becoming law. FREE BMWs for everyone! When it dies....it’ll be the evil republicans that want kids to walk 5 miles to school each way....

But in reality, the Rs deserve to lose. Collectively, they’re barely distinguishable from the demholes. They never do what they’re sent there to do. Obamacare anyone? Debt, deficits..... Gridlock is good.

Every democrat congressperson has to run again in 2 years.

Most don’t come from safe San Francisco districts....

If the RATS in the house follow-through with their threatened vendetta against the Administration, they will set themselves up for a real bloodbath in two years.

The left “bought” the house. Also, the decay that started in the Carter Administration, as instigated by the Department of Education and the NEA/AFT is finally producing a steady flow of ignorant, indoctrinated voters who fail to understand the responsibilities of citizenship.

17. Paying recompense (like to farmers) for trade wars.

Received so many Congratulations from so many on our Big Victory last night, including from foreign nations (friends) that were waiting me out, and hoping, on Trade Deals. Now we can all get back to work and get things done!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 7, 2018

Favish forgets or is ignorant that POTUS was funded to the hilt in the DOD for all of 2018 and 2019 and fiscal 2019 runs far into 2020.

In the meantime, it will be a frequent sight to watch Pelosi get tongue twisted and confused. She’s a good masthead for the rotten party.

Not necessarily. There’s politics, then there’s horse-trading. Trump will horse trade and get much of what he wants. It probably means we won’t get rid of things like Obamacare or some horrible regulations. But it’s likely the wall will get built, the military will get funded and ICE funding will stay the same or get increased. Most of what we heard from the Democrats was posturing. When it gets down to building that bridge in my district, the rock solid socialist position will get shoved to the side.

Any one here on FR who has a new Democrat congressperson in their district should, from day one, hold their feet to the fire and make them accountable for their votes. Form groups of like minded conservatives and call their office, drop in for visits, attend their town hall meetings and let them know you mean business.

I believe we can take back the House in two years if we shine the light on them until then.

The man knows how to twist the knife, even if there is no knife. The MSM thrives on Republican bellyaching. They love it when FReepers are all crying and Republican lame ducks are lamenting, but Trump comes out there applauding the wins that did happen. They’ve got to be seething. They hate him, because he’s a positive driving force for all of us.

At this point we need to rally around the man who brought us this far and really start earnestly looking for a predecessor who will truly lead us out of the swamp.

Republicans have had 6 years to rid us of the cancer that is Obamacare. They don’t want it gone. It’s a hot button that they can continue to use to whip up the electorate to vote for them. There aren’t many other bete-noir issues that fire up voters like healthcare.

The Dems are simply going to gridlock and panic the electorate for the next 2 years. With a compliant MSM, they have a bully pulpit that can be used to try every last issue in the court of public opinion. America isn’t lost, but we’re certainly at irons for the next 2 years.

It’s time to focus on either Trump’s re-election or another businessman who can come in and take his place. America needs to keep the prosperity rolling.

It seems politics will not solve our problems. We will become lawless and our money worthless. Sewing to the wind, reaping to the whirlwind.

Democrats will just run out the clock while the demographic timebomb ticks away, Paul Ryan and the establishment were doing the same thing. Soon they will have their nomwhite majority and the oligarchy will become entrenched completely.

They got everything. Money well spent. Be it one seat or all seats, they won and we lost. They control it all. There will be no funding of anything to save the country and we will hear nothing but impeach, impeach, impeach.

Here in Western Pa Democrats brought out the old mantra of cuts in Social Security and Medicare. Shocking, how this old cunard is believed by oldsters who have heard this crap their entire voting lifetime.
