I am working 2nd shift (1PM to 10 PM local AZ time) so I was running my errands in the late morning. When I spotted the Weinermobile, and the driver exiting, I saw he was going to have his lunch at Culver's, a place that doesn't even sell hot dogs, much less Oscar Meyer hot dogs.
For those unfamiliar with Culver's, it is a fast food hamburger/chicken/fish/sandwich/custard joing that is headquartered in Wisconsin. Founf in the midwest, SE, and now SW. It is a couple of notches above McDonald's etc. in quality, presentation and cleanliness. It was also rated by one survey as "The Whitest Fast Food Chain in America" (my black children like it too, though).
Now we know.
Well, yeah, who would eat hot dogs all the time? ;^)
You didn’t go over and ask him for Wiener Whistles for the children or grandchildren?
My former New York City born and bred boss read me the riot act when I pulled into a Culvers on a road trip to Minneapolis. But as soon as she saw “frozen custard” it was like I should have asked for my performance review early... she said it took her back to the Steel Pier on the Atlantic City boardwalk as a girl, only better.
I hope the Culvers didn’t vote against Gov. Walker.
Culver’s is good. Now I need some.
He could claim it was just for dessert - Flavor of the Day!
(Butter Pecan, by the way. At least at our location.)
His location was Frozen Capuccino. In Wisconsin, the marquees would routinely conflate the special of the day with the flavor of the day.
Real Life Example: “Chocolate Raspberry Tacos Are Back!”
When we moved to Rockford, IL in 1998 we thought it was hilarious. None of the locals found it even mildly amusing.
A man should not eat his own weiner for lunch.
With you on that. Luv Culvers.
Obviously, The Bat Cave.
We have had Culver’s in southwest Florida for about three years now.
Not the best burger I’ve ever had but tasty, filling, and consistent. I eat there maybe once a month.
But I have a hard time forgiving Culver’s for dropping their prime rib sandwich from the menu. It was awesome with plenty of grilled onions and horseradish sauce.
Memories, memories ...
Ha!
I live in WI, home to Culvers.
I recommend Culvers Butter Burger with cheese, add some bacon, why not. The butter in the name refers to the way they toast hamburger buns in butter on the grill.
The onion rings are great. Just had some today.
When Culvers started up in WI, I stopped going to McDs.
Quality is much higher at Culvers.
I do prefer McDs fries.
Very funny, and accurate.
Culver’s runs circles around the major burger joints when it comes to quality and service.
Wienerschnitzel.
Squeaker of the House.
