Amazon is hiring its own fleet of full-time drivers to deliver packages to Prime customers. Amazon will manage these drivers directly, meaning the company will set their wages, provide them delivery vehicles, and schedule their routes. Amazon has previously relied on delivery services provided by UPS, FedEx, and the US Postal Service, as well as contractors employed through its Flex delivery program and third-party courier companies it calls delivery service partners. At a recent Amazon training for the new program, drivers were told the company "didn't want people peeing in bottles," a source told Business Insider.
Amazon is launching a new last-mile shipping program this holiday season.
For the first time, the company is planning to hire and manage thousands of full-time drivers to transport packages to customers from Amazon delivery outposts across the US, the company confirmed to Business Insider on Monday.
Amazon will manage these drivers directly, meaning the company will set their wages, provide them delivery vehicles, and schedule their routes. The drivers are seasonal but will have the option to apply to continue their employment with Amazon following the holiday season.
"Seasonal employees have long been utilized to supplement capacity during peak shopping periods," an Amazon spokeswoman said. "This holiday, thousands of full-time, seasonal Delivery Associates will deliver to customers during the busy retail shopping season."(continued)

True but here in Reno the unemployment rate is about 3.6%. No bodies to be had.
When we got home from church yesterday we were surprised to see our Amazon order at the front door. Sunday. We, too, worry about porch pirates, and if we had know they were there we wouldn’t have wasted a couple hours after church before going home.
That’s the Walmart business model.
They’ll take my pee bottle from my dead cold hands.
Instead, they should buy adult diapers from Amazon.
They even tell you how many stops away they are from delivering your package.
Porch pirates are a problem in a lot of places.
They have smart locks that allow amazon to put the packages inside your home. They also have ring doorbells with security cams and audio.
Mr. pee bottle and Sherman?
Its not FedEx, UPS, USPS and Amazon’s fault that crime occurs.
From my experience based on literaly thousands of Amazon Prime orders the act of allowing FedEx and UPS to hand final delivery over to the USPS has been a horrible mistake. They have “lost” (aka stolen) so many of my orders it is rediculous. If they are not stolen then there must be a USPS building the size of Texas somewhere filled with undelivered packages. The ones that do not get lost are often delivered late.
I order a lot from Amazon. Fortunately though I have a porch with bricks that blocks what’s on my doorstep from the view on the street.
I also work from home so can easily track when my packages will arrive.
If I didn’t, I would consider getting some smart locks and allow amazon access or invest in a ring door bell.
Interexting? Lol especially with today’s variation in “human condition,” if you get what I mean. My first (natural) instinct was to say it won’t be the lady drivers peeing in a bottle, then I remembered that being a lady today is.... I can’t think of the word I want to use, so I’ll say, “being a lady today, or at least being a woman today is arbitrary.”

LOL, why not hire the Lyft and Uber drivers. They have a ready market.
I have had packages delivered by Uber and Lyft drivers. I guess they are now out in the cold.
You can track when your order is going to be delivered on their website. Amazon voice assistants also have skills that keep you informed as to delivery as well.
One thing about UBER is they do a random 3 way security check on the driver:
1. Tell the driver to take a selfie and check image with drivers license,
2. Tell the driver to click on link and log in with home computer password,
3. Have some minor contract review which ends in a complete 3 page security check (after entering full SS number)
Lyft does none of that...just assume that the person at the other end of the cell phone is the correct driver.
As an aside....I go 4 to 5 hours without needing a piss jug ...maybe a stop for coffee and bathroom...seems to me ride-sharing companies need to do a bladder certification....weed out those with inferior bladder capacity.
I see people without any visible ID or uniform delivering from unmarked vehicles in my neighborhood every day.
I do not like to have random people wandering up onto my porch.
I always track my Amazon orders on their site for delivery info which gets me down to day and approximate time. I didn’t know you could watch the actual location of the delivery person..
