Told the other job my two weeks noticed was two weeks ago. Sometimes you just have to jump.
“Heck! Ill come out of retirement for the right price.”
That is happening at many of our local stores, part timers at Walmart, Home Depot, Raleys, and ???
A large group of retirees over 70 whom we know decided to finally retire. This past summer or early fall.
They are getting offers they can’t turn down re pay, hours and huge discounts in the stores.
And it’s driving the liberals nuts!
#3 is the tough one in California.
How does that work with many states going for recreational pot?
Now, let's be fair, while we dole out all the credit!
Credit for any downturn goes to D. Trump.
“How does that work with many states going for recreational pot? “
Maybe they just don’t want drug users, legal or not.
.
And, judging by last week's election results, a plurality of the voters seem to agree with him.
My significant other went to an Ollie’s Bargain Store in Texas the day after its grand opening. Service was nonexistent. The manager told her virtually none of the employees came back to work after what was, I assume, a hectic opening.
Can you SCRUM? If you can SCRUM you can start at 30/hr here in the NE. Be sprintie. Say the words "Create efficiencies" or "Add value for our customers" or "Enhance shareholder value" and you will pull 250K minimum.
“Anyone in Orlando want to offer me a job at $20/HR or more, hit me up. Crazy strong credentials. Multiple degrees.”
You would be rejected most likely by being over qualified. I have three versions of my resume that are relevant to 3 different fields I could work in. I only list qualifications relevant to the position I’m seeking. If I included all my qualifications, I would be clearly over-qualified and probably rejected for the job. Why? Because if you are far over-qualified, the prospective employer thinks that they are merely a stepping stone to tide you over until someone (maybe a competetor) makes you a better offer; you might only be there a month or two, and this would be a waste of their time because by the time you are totally spun up on the job, you are leaving, and they have to get someone else.
A fair amount of openings come to my inbox.
Most of the ones I’m qualified for or have a decent chance at pay lower than what I make.
Where I am the problem is advancement. There isn’t any. I will be what I am until/whenever. For the most part I can’t complain but I keep an eye open for better.
One job that popped up is one I might send off to and see what happens. It interests me.
In my neck of the woods, even those who have gainful employment are getting offers from outside companies (I’m guessing these folks, like me, have LINKED-IN accounts which is how they’re being contacted).
It’s not just the management and IT folks but the hourly wage people as well. I should know, I got calls last week from a two employment agencies who are recruiting in my field of work (my job is a hodge-podge of data entry, troubleshooting, customer service and setting up/maintaining customer accounts.
Management is taking notice and they DON’T want to lose their valued staff (many of which have 15+ years of company experience). Talk is in the wind of “nicer” holiday gifts, an increase in company 401K contributions and lower deductibles on our health insurance for 2019-2020. There has even been whispers of higher salary increases come evaluation time.
It’s not just those looking for work who are benefiting but for those already employed as well.
It’s a “buyers market” so to speak.
Been there, done that. I have a dozen versions of resumes.
Depends on the employer. You would think they could do without it for a month or more so results would not show pot. Pot takes the longest to get out of your system.
It has been happening to me for a while.
I still turn them down but I am noticing a few things when head hunters call..
Hourly wage is creeping up.
Out of pocket for the offered insurance is going up faster.
My son is a really good worker. He does ministry 20 hours a week and the rest catering. He went to help out another catering company for a day as they were tight.
The following day he was offered a full time job, benefits and 60% better pay for all the gigs. Some gigs would be double the pay.
“Well - I can’t work full time as I have my church job.”
“Whatever - we’ll work around your schedule.”
Of course I thought it was because he’s such a good worker. From the sound of this thread, now I find out that they might have offered it to anybody!
:)
I’d love an even partial work from home gig.
The drive to the middle of nowhere in the Midlands gets really old.
Good paying IT around Columbia for a mr.fixit, I would listen to.
Good workers are hard to find. Employers truly want more than a warm body
Good for your son. You taught him well.
