Todays Campaign Update (Because The Campaign Never Ends)
No comedian at the Nerd Prom? So, just like last year, then. The White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) announced on Monday that this years White House Press Dinner will feature presidential biographer Ron Chernow rather than another of the horrible, un-funny comedians that had become its tradition.
This is all a backlash to the despicable performance delivered at last years nerd prom by Michelle Wolf, who parlayed the national attention gained from that night into a Netflix show that lasted about 15 minutes before it was cancelled because nobody was watching. True to form, Wolf responded to yesterdays news exactly how one would expect:
Michelle Wolf ✔ @michelleisawolf The @whca are cowards. The media is complicit. And I couldn't be prouder.
WHCA ✔ @whca WHCA Announces Acclaimed Author Ron Chernow as Featured Speaker for 2019 Annual Dinner. For more, https://www.whca.press/2018/11/19/whca-announces-acclaimed-author-ron-chernow-as-featured-speaker-for-2019-dinner/

Speaking of shameless attention-seekers, Im old enough to remember when Kirsten Powers was not certifiably insane. CNN commentator Kirsten Powers told that networks depraved audience that all white women who voted for Donald Trump are racists, and no one at CNN blinked an eye since she made her remark on the show hosted by raging bigot Don Lemon. But the comment did result in a major backlash on Twitter, because of course it did.
Powers, who has made a habit of saying all manner of outlandish things on CNN in recent months in her ongoing effort to become relevant to the depraved Democrat voter base, responded to the backlash with this tweet:
Kirsten Powers ✔ @KirstenPowers For those upset abt my comments about racism+Trump supporters, I also said that ALL white ppl (not just Trump supporters) need to examine their own racist assumptions/white privilege that are the result of living in a society that privileges white people. That includes me.

Ocasio Cortez Watch:
Ok, so, Trump was right, right? Right. California Governor Jerry Brown, facing a human tragedy of unimaginable proportions, quietly proposed legislation that would implement sweeping changes to the management of forests in the Golden State.
In doing so, Brown abandoned his specious claims that the massive and deadly wildfires his state has seen in recent years are caused by climate change, and basically admitted that President Donald Trump is right to point the finger at the idiotic forest management policies that result from that cult-like belief in climate dogma. Browns new bill will allow the logging of larger trees and building of new roads without obtaining permits, along with other measures designed to thin the forest undergrowth that has grown out of control and which provides the kindling and fuel for the massive and rapidly-moving fires seen in California over the past decade.
The death toll from this latest outbreak of major fires rose above 80 on Monday, with more than 1,000 citizens still unaccounted-for. Those deaths are the legacy of Gov. Brown and the radical environmental movement towards which he has spent the last 8 years pandering. It is a crying shame that it took this level of human loss to convince the Governor to finally, at long last do the right thing and begin managing his states forests again. Incoming Governor Gavin Newsome, who, along with Brown toured the devastation with President Trump over the weekend, has inherited a giant mess. It remains to be seen if he is a serious enough person to adequately deal with it.
So, its gonna be cold? Thats global warming, too. The National Weather Service is predicting record cold temperatures throughout the Northeast over this Thanksgiving weekend. The same climate cultists who insist we should not attempt to manage forests will also insist that those record cold temperatures are due to global warming. Or something.
Meanwhile, back at the White House The White House press office fully restored CNN performance artist Jim Acostas press pass on Monday, resulting in the dismissal of CNNs lawsuit over the matter. At the same time, the White House issued a simple set of rules for Acosta and his fellow tantrum-throwing fake journalists must follow at future press briefings:
A journalist called upon to ask a question will ask a single question and then will yield the floor to other journalists. At the discretion of the President or other White House official taking questions, a follow-up question or questions may be permitted; and where a follow up has been allowed and asked, the questioner will then yield the floor. Yielding the floor includes, when applicable, physically surrendering the microphone to White House staff for use by the next questioner. Failure to abide by any of rules may result in suspension or revocation of the journalists hard pass. Thats all well and good, but basically, the right answer for the White House lies in what I have been advocating in this space since March, 2017: Stop holding formal press briefings, period. The President lluded to this possibility in his interview over the weekend with Chris Wallace, and to their great credit, the White House has already cut back on the number of briefings Sanders conducts, holding only a handful each month since July.
The right thing to do here is to notify the WHCA that the next breach of decorum by an Acosta or April Ryan or any of the other preening peacocks who loiter around the White House grounds each day will result the immediate suspension of all briefings until the press itself has properly dealt with the offender. In fact, by raising that scenario with Wallace, President Trump has essentially issued that fair warning.
There are myriad ways in todays high-tech society for the White House to satisfy its duty to keep the American people informed of its daily activities on their behalf. The holding of formal briefings so that peacocks like Acosta can preen and squawk for the cameras is not required and frankly not even among the better means of living up to this duty.
Just as limiting or eliminating their ability to satisfy their need for attention is the most effective way for parents to deal with their acting-up toddlers, it is also the most effective way for the White House to deal with acting-up reporters. The very fact that a set of rules for decorum had to be written and published is proof of that reality.
But it all became necessary due to the failure by the WHCA to properly do its job and police its own membership, just as the change in format for the Nerd Prom was needed due to the failure of the WHCA to properly control its featured speakers. The truth is that the WHCA is an association of professionals who refuse to enforce standards of behavior on its own members. When that happens, someone in authority has to find a way to do that job for them.
What we saw on Monday was the result.
That is all.

If the White House sponsors this event and pays for it I, as a taxpayer am calling for fiscal responsibility and ending these contrived theatrics at taxpayers expense. Of course, if tax dollars are not going to this White House dinner, then by all means feel free. But if taxpayers dollars are being used to host a bunch of journalist it is a complete waste of taxpayers hard earned income.
The Correspondents Dinner used to be pretty funny....right up until the Obama years. Previous Presidents (including even Clinton) used to poke fun at themselves, until Obama. He couldnt even handle ONE joke that sent him up. The Dinner turned into nothing but a Republican Bashfest, when before there were a fair number of jokes that sent up Democrats, too. The Dinner is done......and Dems who think that the Dinner will revive itself when a Dem is again in the WH (may it NEVER happen), will be sorely disappointed.
The WHCA, along with the MSM (And, yes Fox, you have finally made it into the MSM, you worthless bastards!) are the reason why Twitter is critical to communications between the POTUS and the American People!
I did not know that the daily press briefings had been curtailed. Good.
Or Tim Allen.
Police yourselves, or you will be policed. And you won’t like it.
