The Week in Review: It’s Big Black Curtains for the Clintons’ Comeback Tour

The Campaign Update Week in Review (Because The Campaign Never Ends)

I was asked the other day by a reader why Bill and Hillary Clinton are embarking on this joint speaking tour across the U.S. and Canada. It’s a good question to which the most obvious answers are a) to set the Pantsuit Princess up for another run at the Democrat Party’s presidential nomination in 2020, and b) to try to rehab Slick Willie’s reputation, which finds itself once again in tatters in this era of #MeTooism.

That must be right since it is so hard to think of any other reason why they would do such a thing, unless…

Unless the grasping grifters are hard up for money. Could that really be possible? It’s not that hard to imagine. After all, since they lost the ability to engage on their influence racket, contributions to their fake “foundation” have plummeted. No doubt the fees they are able to charge for giving speeches have fallen as well, given that they are no longer able to promise political favors in return for half-million dollar checks.

They’ve both lived billionaire lifestyles for well over a decade now with neither of them earning an honest living of any kind. Without the ability to fleece their “foundation,” using 9 out of every 10 contributed dollars to pay for events, lodging and travel expenses, they’ve no doubt had to go through a great deal of their own ill-earned savings. Plus, they’ve had Chelsea and her layabout hubby to support all these years. Thus, it seems entirely possible that the main motivation behind this tour was to try to replenish the coffers by selling the only things they have to sell – themselves.

Think about it: They set this tour up as a sort of ’60s rock band revival kind of deal, scheduling the events in huge arenas designed for hockey and basketball like the Who and the Rolling Stones play on their seemingly never-ending “comeback” (as if they were ever really gone) tours. The Clintons and their handlers obviously assumed that the ignorant masses would rush to pay rock star ticket prices to fill these arenas that typically seat 12,000-20,000 souls.

But things aren’t quite working out that way, are they? On the tour’s opening night in Toronto, just 3,300 tickets were sold for a hockey arena that seats 18,000. Tickets that sported a face value of $177 were being hawked on the Internet for as low as $6.55 on the day of the event, whose organizers ended up having to hide vast swaths of the place behind big black curtains so that the Clintons wouldn’t be embarrassed by speaking to 5 empty seats for every filled one.

It seems that most people are more anxious to shell out the bucks to go watch Mick Jagger or Pete Townsend perform than they are to go listen to Bill brag about a presidency that is ancient history to most people or to hear the Coughing Crook engage in yet another coughing fit, which she did include in her tour-opening Toronto performance. Go figure.

This was all very predictable to anyone who’s been paying attention. After all, who can forget all the images from the 2016 campaign of the Hacking Hag speaking to an audience of a few dozen people – most of whom were paid staffers – in some high school gymnasium while Donald Trump was staging a rally before 10,000? The truth is that neither Clinton has been able to raise a decent audience since 1996 unless he or she had some form of political favor or influence to exchange for the price of the ticket or campaign contribution.

We should expect this terribly bad idea to end up a lot like the last Madonna tour – with a bunch of events cancelled due to lack of ticket sales. Because those 3,300 who showed up in Toronto this week barely covered the cost of staging the event, if they covered it at all. One thing we know for sure about the Clintons: If there’s no money in it, they have no interest in doing it.

Let’s go to the Week in Review:

It was the week when George “Poppy” Bush passed away, just 8 months after his beloved wife Barbara had died. May they both Rest in Peace.

It was the week when Hillary Clinton’s top advisor, Philippe Reins, was photographed running around the Fox News studios with no pants on screaming about pubic hair. I swear I don’t make this stuff up.

It was the week France began to turn into Venezuela, when the streets of Paris were set aflame by growing protests over the socialist government’s raising of gasoline taxes and against the moronic reign of the childish Prime Minister Emanuel Macron’ in general. Thanks, socialism!

It was the week when Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to the crime of lying to congress, becoming the 7th person in our nation’s entire history to be convicted of that legal violation. That’s how desperate Robert Mueller has become to put more skins on the wall.

It was the week when writer Jerome Corsi refused to lie for Mueller and his gang of thugs, instead choosing to set up a GoFundMe account to pay for the lawyers necessary to fight against the police state tactics Mueller has deployed against him. Collecting those skins got a little tougher for the Gestapo General, er, “Special Counsel.”

It was the week it became clear that Irish Bob O’Rourke is getting ready to run for the 2020 Democrat presidential nomination, causing outgoing Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel – who has presidential aspirations of his own – to try to put on the brakes, telling the scumbags over at Morning Joe that “If Beto O’Rourke wants to go and run for president, God bless him. He should put his hat in and make his case. But he lost. You don’t promote a loser to the top of the party.” Hey, the Democrats promoted a loser to become Mayor of Chicago, so why not go all the way?

It was the week when some bad polling numbers must have come in for the Democrats on the whole “migrant caravan” issue, since the fake news media pretty much quit reporting on it in unison around mid-week.

It was the week when both NPR and The Guardian emerged as major competitors to CNN and the New York Times in the competition to be the fakest fakety-fake media outlet in earth. The Guardian took the lead early in the week with a transparently fake story alleging that Paul Manafort had visited WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange at the Ecuadorian embassy in London no less than three times, but then NPR attempted a late-week comeback with an equally-transparently fake story alleging that Donald Trump, Jr. had perjured himself before congress.

At week’s end CNN emerged still the leader in The Campaign Update’s Fake News Power Rankings, simply on the strength of still having that little short bald guy who looks like George Costanza hosting a show five days a week.

It’s really hard for anyone to compete with that.

Maureen Dowd has a similar essay. She poses the same answers, then is puzzled what the Clintons are so tone deaf to has been status and the appearance of grotesque greed they evoke. Dowd writes of their manifolds faults, but somehow just feels sorry for them. Dowd still can’t get it that they are empty vessels of bad ideas, ego, greed, narcissism, manipulation, corruption, and criminality — and they always were.

Years ago, Dick Morris wrote that Bill Clinton was like a solar-operated calculator. In the glow of public adulation, Bill comes alive (Hillary not so much). Absent the limelight, he is a lump of lead. The Clintons need attention like a vampire craves fresh blood. They can’t stop thinkin’ about tomorrow...

Perhaps more folks would have purchased tickets had they not kicked off their tour in a freaking foreign country.

Are all politicians on the national stage tone-deaf or what?

You've summed up the Clintons - nice job.

Well, I think Canada seemed to be a welcoming place; the excerpt of their appearance that I tolerated was a dissing of President Trump and his failure to lead the world on the number one existential problem of the world, that bugaboo known as climate change.
