I used a search engine to find a repost of this story in its original form.

The 8th paragraph as I see it has the phosgene reference.

As I posted tonight, the low casualty figures don’t seem to confirm the notion that phosgene was used.

LOL.

I was exposed to it when using a torch in a refrigerant rich environment like in the case of a leak repair. The flame would break down the refrigerant into a form of it. The flame would take on a greenish hue.

Flame type leak detectors would also cause it if in an enclosed area. Though not a pure form, it was a high irritant and would really begin to burn the hell out of your nose and lungs.
