I am now exactly a week away from my December 21 weigh-in. I had hoped to drop to my goal of 100 pounds down from my May 27 weight of 320 pounds. However, as I noted in this video, Thanksgiving caused a weight loss slowdown for me plus the fact that I need to lose 26 pounds from my last weigh-in. My normal weight loss is just 20 to 23 pounds lost per 6 week period.

Another reason why I would like to drop to 220 pounds by next Friday is that if I do so I have a YUUUUUUUGE announcement to make which I believe will impact other people out there desperate to lose weight. Otherwise I will have to wait until February to make the announcement.

I don’t know how tall you are but we are probably about the same size. I am about 6’ 1” or a little over. I have gotten down to 216 with low carb and walking. I inducted initially with no carbs for two weeks.

Keep doing what you are doing. I just turned 70 and my doc did my blood work ups and other tests and says he is amazed how solid I have got this thing. Since I am retired in the Phoenix valley I can walk outdoors with a big hat.

I take my iPhone and listen to books, music playlists, etc over my AirPods bluetooth ear buds. I started when I got up to just above 240 so I have lost about 25 pounds since May.

After 18 months of daily runs, i am still barely doing a mile. Good work there !

Of course blowing out my knee 6 months ago hasn’t helped. Oh, the pain...

Congrats

I know I’m beating a dead horse, but weight loss by itself is not the only answer.

Strength training is necessary. I don’t care what the age is. Even a little bit can make a big difference.

Even more of an accomplishment. I hope to cut another 20 and get below 200. It is hard to keep it off at 70 as my life is not a physical as it was in my youth. I have to make myself walk, hike and swim. I just replaced a pool heater so I hope to swim in March when it is over 80 during the day again.

Yeah, well that's about 3 1/2 pounds by next Friday which won't get me there.

As a way to lose weight walking isn't very good. That's the down side. The up side is when you're walking you aren't on the couch or in the kitchen. To make it more efficient do your walk before breakfast so you are forced to use stored energy and throw in some hills or steps to expend more effort. I do a walk I call the walk of 1000 steps, a 10 kilometer walk that, as part of it, includes 3 sets of stairs totaling just over 1000. Only one set of stairs is your standard evenly spaced ones. The others are old, go from close together to a good reach, and steep. Here is a bit of one section. You can see how it doglegs to the left and up but it also doglegs to the right and down, about 400 steps in total.
