I have shot guns in 20, 12 and 410 but I try to limit my handguns and long guns to 22 WMR and 9mm due to cost. I want a large game long rifle, I just don’t need one, LOL.
I should add that I also have an LCR in .38 as my wife liked its trigger action.
The .22 mag in a 23 inch barrel (Marlin model 25) is just about ideal for large coons. A LR will do the job but the Marlin absolutely nails them.
You are correct about the noise too. Even out of that long barrel it still roars.
