Are all these firearms capable of being mounted into a Ransom Rest?
Because unless these are fired in a locking device this is not a test. Just a bunch of guys showing off their skills (or lack there of).
Not one Springfield Armory XD or XDM in the list? Please...
I agree. I have a Beretta 92fs that is stupid accurate - in my hands. Have killed hogs with it at 75yds+. But my wife, who is a concealed carry instructor and a pretty decent pistol shot, can't hit the side of a barn with it.
One of the weakest AM Shooter Journal articles yet...I love a good gun thread. This wont be it. Sigh.
Your statement is not true. An inaccurate firearm cannot be made to be accurate and an accurate firearm will prove itself in a shooters hands as well. If this was not true then there is no need for accuracy at all.
Yup. Ive seen what you said many times. I can hit decently with a little Colt Mustang my kids who are good shots cant hit anything with it.
My WW2 1911a1 is accurate enough for a sidearm for me. I hit center mass at a target that will take anyone down up to 25 yards. My youngest son, however can put it into a super tight group I dont come close to matching.
Well... I just don’t understand why my Taurus 111g2 that I just pickup or $150 bucks wasn’t on the list....
Accuracy is demonstrated by the shooter of a weapon.
I’m assuming you have experience with XDs? How about the S&W 9s? Local dealer is talking me out of the XD and into the S&W. Said the XDs aren’t what they use to be. I sure like the price point of the S&Ws.
I have an XDM 9. Awesome gun. Accurate as hell and I like the 19+1 capacity. Not many other guns like it (maybe none). To me it is perfect. FYI the XDM is further refined than the XD which was an older design.
Gotta say it. "Nice shootin' Tex"
My CZ clones are tack drivers (Canik and SAR)
As a former combat handgun instructor, I have to say that it depends on the shooter AND the gun. My dad was great with a Glock 17; I wasn’t. I was decent with an M9, but put a P226 in my hands and that’s an entirely different matter altogether.
It seems with their testing they wanted to find the most accurate “target pistol”. They let the shooters fire from a sandbag rest.
The test became invalid when some(or one) of the weapons had an aimpoint red dot sight.
Were they looking for the best handgun sights ?
Thank you.
CZ-75bd. It is THE most accurate handgun Ive ever seen and I own a few hand guns.
XDM is very accurate out of the box.
I am chuckling at the premise of this thread. Accuracy in a gun that has iron sights and a baseline of no more than 6 inches, probably half that. Sure, accuracy inside 25 feet. Some of the comments about ‘tack driving’, my eyes are rolling. Compare this to keeping a group within an inch at 200 or 300 yards. But I don’t mean to squelch the enthusiasm of pistol shooting folks. I shoot a lot of pistol as well, but inside of 50 yards, the emphasis is on speed. Accuracy means keeping the rounds inside the thoracic cavity or the head box. Don’t need a tack driver for that.
