WHAT HAPPENED TO THE TURTLE EGGS??????

I didn't want to disturb them by digging them up to check. It would probably harm them to satisfy my curiosity.

By the way - be sure to use Cat Chow for wild birds, and not Kitten Chow. They are different formulations.

I have an irrational FEAR of birds. I am okay if at a distance but if they get up close to me I go BERSERK. I thought I was the only person with such a fear but I found out that Lucille Ball also had the same fear of birds. Notice that in all her TV shows, you don’t see her doing a skit with birds.

I once met a veterinary technician who was afraid of anything that FLIES.

Living things that fly are usually more afraid of you than you are of them - go figure :-)

Yeah, that flick freaked me out. Fluttering, flapping bird wings give me the chills. I can NOT abide them. BTW, my fear got worse at one house we lived at that had a birds nest in the lemon tree so whenever my mom asked me to pick some lemons, I had a bird attacking me. Freaked me out completely.

I would think that since they were just covered up with sand, they would be crushed by the wheels of a lawn mower when the grass is cut.

A local nature center had a bunch of snapping turtle eggs on display in egg cartons sunk into sand in a small fish aquarium.....I think they may have had a heating pad under the aquarium to keep them warm........

If you didn't want to go that route, get some screen and encircle the nest with it. It may keep raccoons from raiding the nest too........or not.

I’m fascinated by birds and fortunately work and live in a place where there are many kinds. Ravens are a particular favorite, because they’re so obviously intelligent. There’s also several kinds of hawks and falcons, jays, various songbirds, owls, and even a blue heron and some ducks when the catchment ponds fill up after the summer rains.
