A Virtual Trip To the Beach

What a week. I think it’s time for a virtual trip to the beach.

It might rain, which affords it’s own dreary charms.

But if the sun rises over Lake St. Clair in southeast Michigan,

as well as over Lake Huron in Tawas in northeast Michigan,

it might just be a lovely day to take a partial Great Lakes Circle Tour around the Mitten state.

As it’s still early in the season, and the water is still very chilly the Lake Michigan beaches in the north are unlikely to be crowded.

That may be the case with those in the middle of West Michigan as well.

We should pull into southwest Michigan just in time to wrap up the day with the sunset over the piers and lighthouses of St. Joseph and Benton Harbor.

And without having to do all the driving you should feel refreshed and ready for another week of…who knows what.

NOTE: In reality you can’t drive around the entire state in one day unless you don’t stop to eat, use the facilities or sight see…and average 80 mph.

Nice! We will head out to just north of Grand Haven for our swims. But for me to go I watch the water temps online and it needs to be at least 70 degrees. A small window.

The Grand Haven pier photo needs updating. The Corps of Engineers has completely resurfaced the pier. The catwalk was removed and restored and is currently being reinstalled.

I love it when a writer believes we need a trip to the beach!

Cental Western shore (Algoma, WI) beaches already seeing a lot of traffic.

Great Lakes swimming takes a bit of practice (experience?) to get in early. The Chamber of Commerce is on the beach and those folks came down and took a picture of us a couple of years back because our family was always the first in the water on that beach every year. Enter the right way and its not cold for long.
