VIDEO: TDS Knitting Site BANS Trump Supporters

VIDEO

A knitting and crochet website, Ravelry, is suffering from extreme Trump Derangement Syndrome with the result that they have banned anybody who posts anything favorable about Donald Trump. Note that this is not a general ban on political discussion. If you upload a project of knitted socks with hammer and sickle designs or post favorably about Elizabeth Warren, that is permissible. Only posting favorably about the Big Bad Orange Man is taboo there.

I also analyze the genesis of this whole TDS outbreak on a knitting site which goes back to January due to the Social Justice Warriors going into full Red Guards mode over a laughably innocuous sentence in a post about knitting. The SJW Red Guards went on to bully the author of the "offensive" post as well as someone else who objected to such madness.

I hate to break it to folks but all sites I know of moderate

Free Republic is these days for sure pretty damn free and the mods are for sure more red pill than 2000-2010

Breitbart where I’m sure a lot of posters here also get their news aggregate has skewed back NeoCon since Brannon was ousted

NRO with no Trump hate

Pollack, Solov, Marlow and Hall have a distinct agenda now.

They allow all manner of liberal agit prop but will not tolerate criticism of the site if they catch it

They given their exposure have big threads and use DSQUS for their algorithms for zotting posts

Any mention of Israel or the word Jew or Jewish even if pure adulation brings a hold for review which is silly

The editorial folks now post Ben Shapiro Dinesh D Souza style screeds attacking southern ancestry like a few obnoxious Freepers do...the monuments crowd

Ironically they attack the ancestry of Israel’s most dependable supporters outside of Israel here...a point which escapes them

Disappointing given how under Bannon this would have never happened and Andrew would have known better

Free Republic despite our smaller size is no doubt more Free nowadays and has smarter posters even though a lot of folks here post there

So BE SURE TO DONATE HERE

"White supremacy" LMAFAO! STFU and weave your yarn.

The hatred of President Trump started well before he was elected when Clinton and the other idiotic GOP candidates knew that there was a probability the nomination would go to Trump. The fake outrage is all perpetual lies, character assassination, deceit and BS perpetuated by the scumbag #NeverTrumper fidiots and the Clinton machine.

Exactly, I do like the ability to keep track of my stashed yarn and sell extra yarn on their site without extra charges. But I will not purchase from their advertisers or purchase through their site. I have to much invested with my project info and stash to delete my account.

My wife frequents this site. She avoids any political discussions. Smart thing to do. As for me, I just refer to them as Knit-Twits.

I don’t have a problem is a website wants to ban ALL political discussion to keep it civil but make it across the board, not only ONE political viewpoint.

It would take a fiber connection the size of a tree trunk to download all the free patterns i’ve accumulated there over the past howevermany years.

Yes, I agree. They allow to much political junk on there. They should just do away with all political discussion. I go there for my craft not politics. They could have a political area on the site where members can post at their own risk and deal with whatever comes. The fascism is getting very disappointing. Changed my avatar to to the NPC with a pussy hat on it.

29 Jan 2017: Forbes: What Entrepreneurs Can Learn From The Founders Of The Pussyhat Project
by Tanya Klich
While the Women’s March capitalized on major platforms like Facebook and Twitter, the pussyhat’s online presence started on Ravelry, an online community of more than 4 million knitting and crochet fans.
“Ravelry is the Facebook for knitters,” says Zweiman. “There are chat rooms and discussions of patterns and people post photos of their work.” When Coyle unveiled the pattern for the pussyhat, the Ravelry community roared back with approval for both the design and the cause...

following by major feminist, prog left nutter, Anne Summers:

1 Feb 2017: Sydney Morning Herald: Beware Donald Trump: the pussy hat will be the protest symbol of our times
By Anne Summers
It has the potential to become as potent an international symbol of protest and resistance as the iconic 1960 Alberto Korda photograph of Che Guevara that has for decades adorned millions of T-shirts, or the early emblem of the women’s liberation movement: the clenched fist inside the symbol for women...
Amazingly, it turns out, this was not the work of political activists or any of the organisations involved in the march.
Instead it started with 29-year-old Krista Suh, a screenwriter from Los Angeles who was worried she’d be cold during the DC march and saw a way to both warm herself and make a political statement. She conferred with her friend Jayna Zweiman, an architect who was also devastated at Hillary Clinton’s defeat...

In addition to publicising the project via the usual social media platforms, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, Suh and Zweiman also used Ravelry.com, a platform for knitters and crocheters which has 6.8 million registered users and which soon had 8000 projects devoted to making pussy hats.
I checked out a Ravelry chat room called Pussy Hat Tally where knitters were posting about how many hats they’d made – and trying to tally the total hats knitted. They figured from the postings that it was 32,000...

I also have been a member for years: antique spinning wheels (my husband, now 80, used to be one of a handful of experts who could put them back into working order], spinner, raiser of sheep, knitter, weaver, etc. I have been contacting yarn manufacturers and asking them politely to contact Ravelry about their new disgusting stance, declaring the President of the United States and his entire administration and presumably all his supporters white supremacists.

There might be a lot of collateral damage inflicted thanks to Ravelry’s stupidity.

Ravelry clearly doesn’t give a tinker’s dam about that.

LOL, yes the pussy hat is the most popular pattern on Ravelry. They have quite a few knitting patterns that ridiculous. Some of the so called “designers” are just hate hacks.

I quit all my groups on Ravelry. I will just use their database because I have invested time in keeping my yarn and project inventory up to date. I will not participate anymore. Maybe a little trolling ;)
