The D. C. Swamp Strikes Back! Ratcliffe Out…Hoekstra In?

Today’s Campaign Update (Because The Campaign Never Ends)

Tired of all this #Winning yet? – Another month, another sterling jobs report. The private sector beat “expert” expectations yet again by adding 164,000 new jobs during the month of July, finishing the month with an all-time record 157,288,000 Americans gainfully employed. Even more encouraging is the fact that almost 400,000 Americans moved from the part-time jobs that characterized the Obama economy to the good-paying full-time jobs that are the centerpiece of the Trump economy. This truly never, ever gets old.

She’s gonna need some new script-writers. – The Chief of Staff and Communications Director for Anti-Semite Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez both resigned late on Friday under ongoing pressure from San Fran Nan and her house leadership goons.

The two Alinskyite lunatics, whose names I’m not going to specify on this site (AOC’s is enough work to expend on these garbage people for one morning) had come under fire last month after the Chief of Staff had accused Pelosi of “singling out women of color” and a referred to non-Marxist Democrats as segregationists.

Both men came to AOC from the despicable “Justice Democrats”, the group that supplies the fake congresswoman with her daily scripts. Their vacant positions will no doubt be filled with more staffers who have been trained by that anti-American Alinskyite group. As we have repeatedly seen, AOC is utterly helpless and sounds like a slow-learning 4th-grader whenever she attempts to speak without reciting from those daily scripts, so an injection of new blood from that group is essential for her continuing charade.

The Swamp Strikes Back! – D.C. Swamp rats from both political parties have won the first parry in the battle to replace the fired Dan Coats as the new Director of the Office of National Intelligence. Texas Congressman John Ratcliffe withdrew his name from consideration for the post yesterday amid a growing slime campaign in the national fake news media and ongoing behind-the-scenes opposition from GOP swamp rats like North Carolina Senator Richard Burr.

The Swamp Rats are now pushing hard to convince President Trump to make Coats’s Swampy Deputy, Sue Gordon, to become the new acting director when Coats leaves the post on August 15. Gordon has received endorsement tweets from an array of Deep State Usual Suspects in recent days, including Adam Schiff, John Brennan, James Comey and Rod Rosenstein, so you know she is someone who would do everything she can to block efforts to get at the cabal who attempted to fix the 2016 election and then tried to execute a coup d’etat throughout 2017 and 2018.

The fake news media is of course mounting a focused campaign to pressure the President to appoint Gordon to the post on a permanent basis. If he does that, then you can forget about any meaningful declassification of key documents taking place, as Gordon would be able to use her post as a roadblock.

The problem the President has is that the Swamp has now laid down its marker related to this crucial position as a hill on which it is willing to die, and there are half a dozen or more fake Republicans like Burr who are willing to help lead that battle. So, in order to get anyone confirmed in the Senate, where the Republicans hold a 53-47 majority, he is going to have to nominate someone with credentials that include experience in or around the nation’s seamy intelligence community.

The good news there is that the Wall Street Journal reported late Friday evening that Mr. Trump is considering former Michigan Congressman and current U.S. Ambassador to The Netherlands Pete Hoekstra as his next nominee for the post. How would Hoekstra fit the Swamp’s criteria? Well, as an early Trump supporter during the 2016 campaign, he wouldn’t.

But here’s the thing: Hoekstra is a former Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, a post he held from 2004 through 2007. That little item on his resume would rob the Deep State hacks of the argument – which they used against Ratcliffe this week – that he lacks an understanding of the nation’s intelligence operations.

Hoekstra not only understands those operations, as former Chairman of that committee, he knows where all the bodies are buried. Nominating Hoekstra might be another Trump masterstroke.

As President Trump likes to say, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

That is all.

No, he’s saying Gordon is. She’s been in the IC her whole life. CIA for 30 years.

Hoekstra is the right guy for the Intel job.

I differ with him on some social and budget issues from his past, but those aren't in his prevue in the Intel slot.

He cleaned up some critical program mismanagement back in the day, and that demonstrated the chops necessary for DNI.

He’d have a tough row to hoe. He’s had a number of gaffes & will be accused by muslims & others of being a bigot.

Was the plan to nominate Ratcliffe to see the other side’s arguments and then pull Ratcliffe to nominate a candidate who those arguments were no longer valid? Great plan President Trump, make the other side show their cards!

NYT has a story: DNI deputy director, Sue Godon, won't become the acting director.

I refuse to hit their paywall.

Pete Hoekstra: I liked him. I met him once during the Reagan years at an open-air event. Shook his hand. He seemed jittery, nervous. That is my only experience with him.

I dealt with him on some legislative issues when he was in congress and found him to be very smart and very ethical.

Burr is supposedly not running for re-election. Our junior Senator, Tom Tillis, is even worse. He already has an excellent conservative challenger who has been running ads for months.

On news this am they said that Radcliff over-inflated his resume saying he apprehended 300 illegals in one day and enlarged the numbers for apprehending terrorists. If that is true, very sad because he would have been great for the DNI position.

I really wish, thorough job be done before President announces a candidate. Meaning, the person has the support of the Senate, resume checked and verified, background etc.

I refuse to hit their paywall.

Paywalls rarely stop me from reading news articles. Most are easily bypassed. The easiest way now for a lot of paywall sites is to use the latest version of Chrome in private mode. The latest version of Chrome disables the technique web sites use to detect in private mode browsers which makes it hard for web sites to know if you've been there before as the site can't access any cookies or other info it may have stored on your browser. As far as they know, you might be a new visitor and a potential subscriber so they want to give you get the first few articles free.

This article has several other useful techniques.

My favorite, because it's sneaky and devious, is to change a setting in your browser called the "user agent string" to one that's used by one of the dozens of search engine bots that are constantly crawling the web. Paywall sites allow those through as they want their content to be discoverable in web searches. There are a number of browser plugins for both desktop and mobile OS's that make this convenient and easy to fiddle with.
