Anyone that is into long range shooting should have heard of the Mosin-Nagant rifle. The M91/30 Mosin-Nagant with 7N1 ammo is a formidable long range rifle system. Dont judge the cover by the looks. This rifle played a major role in history for the Russians and other countries. Not surprisingly, this weapon system was also modified for sniping during the past wars.
Youtuber TibosaurusRex demonstrates just how effective this unmodified military rifle can be in experienced shooter. This rifle is in 100% original military configuration and had NOT been equipped with any optical sights, yet it slams steel at 944 yards as easy as anything else on the shelf.
These rifles were designed to be harmonically balanced and were inspected to meet serious military manufacturing and design specifications. The Mosin Nagant rifle has served the Russian military and many other countries for over a century now. The surplus rifle market here in the United States has been flooded with these rifles, most being sold at incredibly low prices.
Many assume these rifle like this (purchased for under $100) must need modification to shoot well
but what many fail to realize is that these rifles were not designed by sporting companies for recreational activities, they were designed by teams of engineers with massive government resources for life-and-death purposes. See the rest of Mosin-Nagant rifle.
I have a few Swiss ones also. I’m not a reloader but do have battle packs of GP-11.
I think I remember reading that it is the longest serving military cartridge in history.
I remember when a batch of those came in to an online dealer (Classic Firearms). They looked great and all had blonde stocks. I waited just a hair too long and they were sold out. That was probably 2009 and was the last time I ever saw a batch get imported.
I ran across one at the local gun store about 7 or 8 years ago. I said “Here, take my money!”
1943 izzy armory. It looked new, never fired, full of cosmoline. Blond stock. It chambers and fires the Czech low recoil ammo very well.
“...longest serving military cartridge...”
Believe it was introduced around 1890 or ‘91.
Got our .30-06 beat by 16 years...
That’s typical Russian, though - If it works, use the living Hell of it until it doesn’t work anymore.
Can’t fault them on that...

Great gun

Model 1891, updated in 1930 (model 91/30), main battle rifle of the Russian and Soviet armies thru 1945 and still in use today.
The Finns are a trip, They kicked Russias ass in the winter war.
I did a project called “Ice Window” for them.

When it works... you use it.
You keep ON using it until it doesn’t work...
Then you fix it and use it some more!!!
It’s a chunky, funky wonderful piece of wood and steel hardware.
If you can find them get the 7N1 sniper rounds, Obama banned them.
I would not be surprised if Wolf Ammo is making their version of the 7N1 ammo.
Perhaps Barnaul.
Ive got a 1932 Tusla. Bore is a bit ugly but it still shoots well.
