M1 Carbine Pistol - The Advisor

This Advisor from Inland Manufacturing is modeled after the M1 carbines used during the Vietnam war for clearing the matrix of tunnels and engaging in extreme close quarters.

The "Advisor," Inland’s M1 pistol, features many of the same characteristics of their original carbines and is modeled after the modified M1 carbines that were a popular conversion made by US Military advisors during the Vietnam Era. These "Military Advisors" found that the compact and reliable M1 carbine could be made even more suitable for their specific missions by cutting the barrels down to pistol lengths and using either a cut down standard stock or the M1A1 folding stock – the folder was the stock of choice if they could get their hands on one.

The M1 Carbine was originally designed for troops that did not need a full-sized battle rifle. Rear-echelon troops, truck drivers and specialized soldiers found that the heavy and long M1 Garand was unwieldy but wanted something more than a pistol. The M1 Carbine filled the gap between the two, being much shorter and lighter than the Garand but offering far more effective range and accuracy than a .45 ACP 1911 pistol. Get you some 110 grain JHP .30 cal for your carbine, it is a fine round for defense and inflicting heavy damage.

Nearly 2,000fps from a 18in barrel with 110gr bullets.

It’s no ought six, but effective out to 100yds.

With an expanding bullet it would be a wrecker.

Well for the most part it’s not even a thing anymore: most of us use the exact same weapons across all the services. M4s/M16s (5.56mm), M249s (5.56mm), M240s (7.62mm), and M9/M11 pistols (9mm). Makes logistics a lot easier. There are a few other random ones out there, particularly among the marksman, sniper, and special operations folks, but they’re the exception.

That said I shudder at the idea of one of my Soldiers turning up with a SCAR he got from a SOF guy, telling me he traded his M4 for it. “I just like the SCAR better, sir!”

Dear God...

All the tunnel rats I knew used the .45 exclusively. I sure wouldn’t want to fire a cut-down M1 carbine in a tunnel. Certainly not if I wanted to retain my hearing. But the real reason they carried .45s is that big, slow moving, slug. It just f****d up Charlie.
