Get you some 110 grain JHP .30 cal for your carbine, it is a fine round for defense and inflicting heavy damage.

Nearly 2,000fps from a 18in barrel with 110gr bullets.

It’s no ought six, but effective out to 100yds.

With an expanding bullet it would be a wrecker.

Well for the most part it’s not even a thing anymore: most of us use the exact same weapons across all the services. M4s/M16s (5.56mm), M249s (5.56mm), M240s (7.62mm), and M9/M11 pistols (9mm). Makes logistics a lot easier. There are a few other random ones out there, particularly among the marksman, sniper, and special operations folks, but they’re the exception.

That said I shudder at the idea of one of my Soldiers turning up with a SCAR he got from a SOF guy, telling me he traded his M4 for it. “I just like the SCAR better, sir!”

Dear God...

All the tunnel rats I knew used the .45 exclusively. I sure wouldn’t want to fire a cut-down M1 carbine in a tunnel. Certainly not if I wanted to retain my hearing. But the real reason they carried .45s is that big, slow moving, slug. It just f****d up Charlie.
