Big League Politics ^ | April 21, 2020 | Shane Trejo

As coronavirus hysteria cripples society and destroys the global economy, a bizarre trend is emerging of “first responders” performing orchestrated dance routines on social media.

There have been dozens of videos that have emerged of nurses and other medical personnel coordinating dance routines in hospitals while on the job, presumably neglecting COVID patients for likes on TikTok and Instagram.

It looks like there have not been enough layoffs at hospitals.

I was over the “first responders as heroes” deal a long time ago. There are great, good, bad and worse, just like in every profession.

Without going to the link to read the rest, my question is, aren’t these workers entitled to breaks during their shift like everyone else? SO, maybe the videos were posted during their break, in which case they weren’t neglecting anyone.
Anyone check into that?

There is a big problem if so many people at a hospital can take a break at the same time.

I doubt these workers are from various floors. People who don’t work in the same area likely do not know each other well enough to go in on a dance video together.

much ado about nothing.....

but people have to understand that most hospitals have very few patients, there has been no surge, and staff is being paid to stay home, not unlike govt workers and teachers....

btw, there are tons of soldiers doing dance routines on you tube in the Middle east and nobody complains even though they are in a war zone and getting combat pay....

Staff being paid to stay home? The 40 that were just furloughed at our local hospital until July will be happy to know that they are getting paid.

Oh wait. They’re not.

What planet are you on?

I work for the government. Many of the people in my particular office could, if we wanted, take our breaks at the same time and cut a video— not because we don’t have a full day’s worth of work to do, but because the nature of our jobs is such that if a lot of us took our breaks at the same time operations would not suffer. We would just continue where we left off.

But we don’t goof off, nor would we ever pull a stunt like this. We know our managers would not stand for it. If we posted something like this on social media, there would be hell to pay.

If we happened to be working in the office (instead of from home right now due the big quarantine) during these trying times and pulled a stunt like this, there would really be hell to pay.

You don’t know what you are talking about. Yet, you manage it.

Yep, people are sacrificing their freedoms and money so these people aren’t overwhelmed. Dance routines are in poor taste.

Let’s see, all I really know about the military is what I learned from watching MASH, but I seem to recall that they all had their assigned shifts to work and when they weren’t working they could go to movie night or sing-a-long night in the mess tent. So, yeah, if these combat soldiers are off-shift and want to cut a dance video, fine. It’s no different if, when I get home from, work I want to gather up my neighbors who are also home from work and square dance in the cul-de-sac.

The hospital victim thing turns out to be a farce also. My god Corona is the single biggest BS scam of all time.

I don’t know about dancing, but I’d like to know what you think about healthcare workers clearly taking a break to do this-

I am disturbed any time so many hospital workers at one time can take a break. If I were an attorney whose client was suing this hospital for malpractice, I would find this video very helpful.

That kind of reminds me of someone scolding someone else for not complying with social distancing guidelines, lives are at stake, you know.

You’re supposed to be doing this, and since you’re not, I’m going to get you in trouble, because I’m saving lives. Nyah, nyah, nyah.

Two sides of the same coin.

Personally, I’m just sick and tired of every event in society being an occasion to shoot a video, take a picture or be a part of “advocacy” one way or another. Few people care about these things and it only makes otherwise professional people look stupid.

Same here. They signed up to work a job and are doing it, though not under ideal conditions. Gong above and beyond, say, a police officer running into a burning building without any SCBA, training, etc. is a “hero”

clownworld

Too many shows where people sing and dance hoping to become stars. Started with Idol and many more spawned from that.
