Most universities have exceptions to tenure protection allowing for financial exigency. That would seem to apply here.

Back when I was a pup, university groundskeeping, custodial and maintenance departments had a small number of full time employees; most of the work was done by students working their way through college. What a concept!!

When I was in college in the 70’s, Propaganda Analysis was a required course for graduation. We read the Readers Digest to prove how the older generation was lying to us.

The 3,000 Members could just pony up the money themselves or petition the alumni to contribute.
Taxpayers should demand value for their hard earned money. And these ‘studies’ are not creating value.

The university has already been criticized for its decision to lay off faculty from the gender and race studies departments. Ohio University political science professor Kirstine Taylor wrote in a viral tweet that she was “heart-sick” over the university’s decision.

Me too.

They should also be laying off the professors in the Arab/Muslim studies departments.

If you are going to lay off useless and counterproductive professors you should not play favorites.
