I wonder if there is a Chinese Studies department at OU. If so, maybe Kristine should ask that they be cut instead. Nah, that would be racis.

The majority of the institutions operational costs are in its employees, which requires the university to make extremely difficult decisions regarding our workforce, including todays action, Leatherwood said. I have no idea how budget decisions are made at universities, but I do know that most major universities have endowment funds that run into the billions of dollars.
Do the state universities like OU have huge endowment funds that could allow them to keep these professors employed during this cut in state funding?
I dont know.
But I have to wonder, is OU management taking this opportunity to eliminate several staff positions that are of questionable educational value?
Is OU management using state budget cuts as cover to do some necessary pruning of troublesome employees. I have seen this behavior in my own company.

I think a lot of these departments are going to go bye bye. The level of whining should be used to identify the targets.
