Ohio U. Lays Off Gender, Race Studies Professors

I wonder if there is a Chinese Studies department at OU. If so, maybe Kristine should ask that they be cut instead.

I have no idea how budget decisions are made at universities, but I do know that most major universities have endowment funds that run into the billions of dollars.

Do the state universities like OU have huge endowment funds that could allow them to keep these professors employed during this cut in state funding?

I don’t know.

But I have to wonder, is OU management taking this opportunity to eliminate several staff positions that are of questionable educational value?

Is OU management using state budget cuts as cover to do some necessary pruning of troublesome employees. I have seen this behavior in my own company.

The level of whining should be used to identify the targets.
