Here’s what I don’t understand: why did anyone pay anybody to make stuff up. Couldn’t they sit at a desk, pretend to surf the web, make a few calls, and do the same thing on the cheap??

Was the money really for the dossier...or was it for something else and the dossier was a cover?

Another case of Democrats overspending on something and not getting the maximum result from it!

They wanted it to look like it came from somewhere else (which is why the split the costs and used a lawfirm for the actual payments) and via someone with links to intelligence for fake credibility. It's 100% possible they told the guy what to write, they just had to have him write it and not do it themselves.

Journalists do the ‘make up stuff at a desk’ dance.

Faking stuff that is involved in court proceedings is far more difficult.

1. It had to appear to come from credible sources, thus former CIs.

2. They needed cutouts to hide the real sources and deniability.

It was all as a cut out, deny-ability.
It’s what you do when you know you’re are doing something
wrong.

That sounds like what Podesta was doing....but he clicked on a phishing link which gave away his email, which it is said, loosed Hillary’s emails.

Stay away from the internets, John.

They needed to give it an air of professionalism.

By removing it two levels over, they also hoped it would not be tracked back to them as bogus and made up information.

The dossier had to come from outside of the United States. That’s why things happened in England etc.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

That’s basically what they did with nel ohr & david kramer putiing together what sid bloomenthal & cody shearer were feeding them.

The dossier production was cheap by DC standards

Imagine a typical screenplay writer writes a typical plot about conspiracy, spies, coup and idiotic unreal people. The left is a parody that sickeningly is real.

They needed the ‘credibility’ of a government spy - Steele. Plus Steele probably came advertised as someone who could be discreet, and never give up who was paying him.
