Man you’ve got to not only dunb down Joan of Arc but completely distort who she was, what she did and why, to compare this person to her. Taking nothing away from this woman and whatever she did, Jean d’Arc she ain’t.
Damn.
What great leaders are made of.
Have you read Mark Twain’s account of the Joan of Arc history?
Very interesting, thanks for posting.
Amazon Prime video has a Russian movie BATTALION about this unit. Russian language with English subtitles.
Yes I read Twain’s book and was STUNNED at how close to fact the world’s most unapologetic assister of the facts was in it.
Notwithstanding what he may have done in the interests of amusement, he wasn’t willing to ignore or alter the facts in his attempt to impeach Joan. In the end, if I understand it correctly, his investigation of Joan had a profound effect on him.
As far ad I can tell Twain told it with laser accuracy.
The Joan d’Arc story is off the charts for being positively other worldly.
GB Shaws’ observation that the youngest person ever to stand at the head of a major nations military was an illiterate 15 yr old peasant girl, alone is enough to knock you ass over tea kettle. Getting into the story is spine chilling.
I’ve spent a good deal of time wondering why God couldn’t get done thru a General what He seems to have used Jean to do.
Oddly though I don’t now recall if she claimed that God Himself spoke to her, or wad it just her “voices”.
I guess such a general would now be regarded as a great general, while Joan is a great saint.
Just my guess.
