The protest video I saw looked like about 90% of the protesters were white, which I find interesting in these cases. Are they just trying to show that they aren’t racist?

It is definitely a case of excessive force, and probably manslaughter. Once you have somebody in handcuffs, they are restrained. I’m told the standard procedure is to put them in the back of the squad car.
