So what’s Gov. Abbott doing?

Austin can’t print money.

Will Texas cut off the spigot?

It would be one thing if this wasn’t the State Capital were talking about. Come on! Not enough conservatives in Austin to elect a real mayor?

It occasionally becomes necessary for me to travel to Austin in order to use the airport, and I did so a couple of weeks ago. In order to avoid the typical Austin snarled freeways, my Uber driver took some side roads that went under a large freeway interchange near the airport. With its large expanse of concrete “roofs” this had become a “camping” area for the homeless, along with their tents, bags, grocery store carts and other debris.

There was another traffic snarl there, caused by fire trucks. There were a number of smoldering groups of grocery carts! I guess when there are no liquor or electronic gear stores to loot and burn, it’s still necessary to burn your neighbor’s grocery carts.

Austinites strive to “Keep Austin Weird”. They’re doing a very good job of it.

I asked a friend of mine if she had ever been to a nude beach, she said “yes in hippie hollow, down in Austin”
She went on and one about some Adonis like guy with flowing golden hair... I said “Venus, he was gay” :)

Regardless of how weird Austin is, I suggest everyone in TX to go visit the capitol, it is bigger and better than the one in DC

Sometimes I think we need Austin to be there to remind the rest of us in Texas how NOT to run a city.

I used to think the old hippies would eventually die out, and Austin would get back to normal. But, what happened was as the old hippies died out, the young, stupid liberal Californians came to take their place. Even a dog won’t crap where he sleeps.

I’ve said for years that Austin is the liberal mecca - but with lower taxes and worse weather.

Nashville city is now about like Austin.....very similar voting demographics and other similarities

Both are state capitals

On a river although Nashville has a commercial river

Both music mecca but Nashville more so

Both are hilly though Nashville is more hills and hollows and Austin more western

Both surrounded by more conservative counties

Davidson ..Nashville is 27% black

Travis ...Austin is 8% Black

Austin went 66% Hillary

Nashville went 61%

Boulder went 71% Hillary and is less than one percent black

Portland went 77% Hillary and is 5% black
