Exactly! “Quid pro quo” is really just a fancy way of saying that both sidez give something to get something. Diplomatic deals where both sides get something tend to be lasting and effective. “Deals” can be made without a quid pro quo, but they typically result from a power imbalance where the more powerful nation gets what it wants and the less powerful one goes along out of desperation, to prevent military invasion/occupation, etc. Those “deals” tend to naturally be less effective and destabilizing. A deal like this that gives something to both sides at least has a chance of bringing a lasting peace.

In all of human history, tell me, what deal has not involved a quid pro quo? In what situation does party B agree to what party A wants to do without something being in the deal for party B? Answer: deals where in Army comes in and completely subjugates the population. I guess that is the kind of so-called deal that Chucky prefers.
