The court can do whatever it wants.
For the court to invalidate the election will take 5 people to show more intestinal fortitude than the all the other elected officials in this nation thus far have shown collectively.

Now let me just append this scenario with one dose of reality.
9:03AM Democrat states sue the Senate president ballot process.
9:04AM State supreme courts loaded with dem partisan judges hear the case and overturn the results of the Senate electoral count.
9:05AM The Supreme court reverses their preceded and suddently decides to take up a case about constitutional elctoral law, and confirms the lower court’s findings.
9:06AM CNN & MSNBC rejoice
It’s an effective meme, because it really does spell out the three courses of action the SCOTUS can take, and two of them are capitulation.
