Two thousand National Guard troops in Washington, D.C. to protect the Biden inauguration this week have been sworn in as Special Deputy U.S. Marshals. These precautions/preparations are only a reflection of the wide gap between our political elite and the population. The political elite is deathly afraid of the general population.

I remember when commissioned officers had US marshal arresting authority. Did that change?
If I remember my history, before the “Peelers”(Police), law enforcement was done by miltia under authority of the county sheriff.

What next the Frei Korps?
NG cannot act as law enforcement with civilians. They can only detain people, but they cannot process or investigate people. I believe this gives them more powers to act as an intermediary with handling and handing people over to law enforcement.
