Trump’s company charged on narrow grounds despite 3 years of investigation
FoxNew.com ^ | July 2, 2021 | Howard Kurtz

....And yet the case brought by the Manhattan district attorney is stunningly narrow. To bring criminal charges over the tax treatment of fringe benefits underscores how more serious allegations were investigated and discarded.

At the top of the list: Donald Trump was not personally charged (and remember, the prosecutors have his tax returns). The company was not charged with inflating its assets to get bank loans, or minimizing its assets to dodge taxes—the kind of fraud that can devastate a business. The company was not charged for funneling hush money through Michael Cohen to Stormy Daniels in an effort to buy her silence about an alleged affair with the boss. All these matters made headlines, DA Cyrus Vance Jr. has been investigating for three years, and obviously didn’t have the evidence for grand jury charges.

I’m not trying to minimize the tax charges against Trump company executives. Weisselberg is alleged to have avoided taxes on $1.7 million in "indirect employee compensation" over 15 years--which would amount to about $900,000 in fraud. The organization itself was accused of failing to withhold taxes on those amounts. Weisselberg was also accused of hiding his New York City residency and of not declaring payments for beds, TVs and carpeting at a Florida home.

Still, such matters are usually dealt with in a civil suit. If you’re guilty, you pay a big fine and repay the back taxes you avoided. Company lawyers said they couldn't find a previous criminal case of this nature....

I'm eagerly awaiting the articles by the MSM about the executives at other major companies who merely had to pay fines for failure to claim as income similar fringe benefits.

In lieu of such articles, I will accept articles by conservative publications as a way of pointing out to libs how many others have gotten away with just a slap on the wrist.

To AVOID taxes isn’t to EVADE taxes. Big, big difference.

Someone was sa t ing this is how they get to the top people by charging the underlings, getting them to talk and rat out others higher up, till eventually they either get to the top person or close to them. They said they always start out with nonsense charges about inane things, then escalate charges, and get the people lower on the rungs to panic, then to falsely accuse higher up of things they didn’t do, then the investigators move to the higher up and do the same process

The left are relentless scum

The “grounds” are nonsense.

The Manhattan DA is trying to make state charges out of alleged federal income tax offenses which have never been brought by the federal government, either the IRS or the DoJ.

These are truly trumped up charges that they literally have no jurisdiction to bring.

I thought that the New York prosecutors would at least charge the Trump organization with Stormy Daniels and anything to do with Michael Cohen but they didn’t. This seems strange.

Over in the amazing European Union, tax “avoidance” and tax “evasion” are one and the same.

They spent probably 20 times on the investigation than the IRS will get in amended taxes.

Witch hunt that failed.

Selective enforcement. Political hit job by that nut Cy Vance, Jr. Meanwhile did Hunter Biden and the Biden crime family pay taxes on the grift money they have been looting worldwide? Doubt it....

This is all a political lynching, but we all know this. Cy Vance Junior and Tish James are simply political hacks, the idiocy of this so-called “indictment” proves this and the “grand jury” I am sure was hand picked to deliver the intended outcome. So my question is (and always is) since the Clinton Foundation was based in NY, why haven’t indictments for money laundering, tax evasion, et al been brought against those three grifters? I’ll wait.

Wait, ABC news told us this massive fraud couldn’t be more obvious to anyone, but they didn’t actually describe it.

THE DEFINITION OF STUPIDITY: New York Attorney General Letitia James, Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance. Utter stupidity, the two of them continue to flaunt it.

MEMO TO STUPIDS (assuming they can read):
<><> Hugh Hefner could NOT get a NJ gaming license;
<><> Barron Hilton of Hilton hotel fame could NOT get a NJ gaming license.
<><> Bob Guccione of Penthouse mag fame could NOT get a NJ gaming license.

LET THAT SINK IN: they could NOT get a gaming license in...... N-e-w J-e-r-s-e-y.

Trump got four NJ gaming licenses.

These stupid characters are looking in the same places, gamers who are much MUCH smarter than they are, looked, and the gamers didnt find a thing.

That’s what makes these people stupid......not being able to think above their own sordid political ambitions....thinking they can nail Trump for political gain.

Did you ever think maybe cause Trump did nothing wrong? Cohen admitted guilt to things that weren’t even crimes to lesson his sentence what Trump did with Stormy was completely legal as Alan Dershowitz has pointed out numerous times…what Michael Cohen did was a taxi medallion scam that Donald had nothing to do with and would have sent him to prison for decades if Mueller didn’t have him turn on Trump…so a very sad trombone for the never trumpers on here
