Joanne Van Saun, the former director of the Luzerne County, Pa., Children and Youth Services was slapped into handcuffs over an alleged coverup that involved an extensive backlog of child abuse reports in her office, with reports being tossed in the trash instead of investigated. The Attorney General’s office of Pennsylvania released a statement about the arrest...
Some of the allegations of abuse that went uninvestigated were shocking and included witness statements describing the sodomy of a child, children living in unsafe conditions, and one incident where a child grabbed a stranger at a football game and begged him to kidnap him so he would not have to go home. Those reports, along with hundreds of others, went nowhere, thanks to Van Saun’s leadership....

This is the same area where there was a FR article this morning about a guy hospitalized for setting fireworks off on his crotch!
They are trying to catch up to Florida.
Yet because of the sodomite football coach and the loser head coach and useless college, anyone who leads children in any capacity in Pennsylvania has to submit to expensive and onerous background checks.
I volunteer with a national youth organization. Pennsylvania is far more rigorous than all other states. Even though we have criminal background checks on all volunteers the state requires another state and federal review, fingerprints etc.
Obviously in part of the state they don’t remotely care about children.
This person needs to fry.

And you wonder how Jerry Sandusky got away with it for years.
Luzerne County - also known for the kids for cash scandal. A juvenile court judge was found to be taking kickbacks from a for profit juvie jail. He wound up doing federal time.

Children and Youth is your typical big government enterprise....hires a lot of people, primarily women with little skill and training and then send them straight into hell hole situations. Their people soon realize they have a ton of power...they can take your kids for just about anything, but they use this power on the innocent while the bad cases are allowed to fester almost forever....so the paychecks keep coming.
Like folks who “fight poverty”, they really don’t solve poverty....they would be out of jobs. They get to keep feeling good about themselves and their mission, while keeping their family fed.
PA has been especially bad for a long, long time. Once people get into these county director positions, the money is really good and they don’t really have to work very hard at aall.
The good, smart people who get into this field quickly get burned out because they realize they are not really helping anyone but themselves.
He’s STILL doing federal time. Mark Civiarella. He got like 28 years for that deal.
