The shuttering of its ammunition factories contributed in part to this year’s ammunition shortage. Production had been halted at the start of the pandemic, and then remained idle during the bankruptcy.
However, the Remington brand name was bought by Vista Outdoors, which now produces several types of ammunition. It took several months, but the old Remington facility in Lonoke, Arkansas is now up and running, almost at full capacity, Outdoor Life reported. It hired back hundreds of former and new employees and is now producing upwards of a million rounds every day.

That is good news. Hopefully some of the ammo will reach the empty store shelves here in the rural area where I live.
All of Cabela’s ammo shelves were empty last time I was there; glad I get all the practice .40 I want; to practice with that is. Practice.
Won't even put a dent in it...
Anything that you want is available online.
If you have 1000 customers looking for 1000 rounds in just 1 caliber (9mm), that's your run for the entire day.
I watched the pace of sale for Tula 9mm, 1000 rd. boxes in just one store, when the price dropped to $400.
Over 200 cases in less than 2 weeks. (and Steel Case Tula has a limited market)
Yes, you can get pretty much anything in any quantity online. However, if you are only interested in a few hundred rounds the shipping cost drives up the per round cost considerably.
Is this just one of those rebranding card-shuffles with the original Remington owning Vista?
Remington is in bankruptcy.
A million rounds a day works out to 365 million rounds per year, assuming a 7-day work week.
Barely enough for one round per person per year in this country.
If you assume that only the ~100 million firearms owners in the country want ammunition, then it’s three rounds per year.
A million a day ain’t gonna make any difference.
it will make a difference.
Just ask the families of the employees who work there.
if they build more factories, which is what it sounds like the plan is, it will make a bigger difference.
Yep!!!
Won’t change anything. It will add a million rounds a day to our private stockpiles. Demand is over 7 times supply.
I’ll sign up. What day do I get my million rounds?
One of the downsides of just having what you need, at that moment.
It’ll certainly make a difference to the employees.
As far as stocking the shelves, not much.
Well, something is making a difference. Shelves totally empty 2 months ago, Academy would get 2 cases 9mm, gone in a half hour. No 223 or 5.56 at all, almost nothing for shotgun, very little anything, a few 22 here and there, a case of 45 now and then but all of it gone in an hour.
The past month, Academy has been keeping 223 and 5.56 constantly, and I’m seeing 40 - 50 boxes or so of each every time I walk in the door. Yesterday they had at least 60 boxes of 9mm, a couple of brands, and some 20 rd boxes of Sierra jhp. A couple of pallets of 12 and 20 ga game loads, some 308 and a couple other rifle rounds, and a few CCI 22 Stingers even. 1st time I’ve seen Stingers in almost 2 years.
People working there and the local pawn shop say it’s getting better, they ard getting more ammo and it’s staying on tbe shelf longer. Academy has gone ftom 2 box to 4 box limit, 2 to 10 limit shotgun.
Still not a complete selection, a few 38 sp here and there but no 357, no .40 that I remember, the only pistol rounds showing up yet are 9mm and limited .45, some .22 and a small few .380, and about a case of .38 a week ago.
Improving, but slowly. Guns are showing up again too. Last summer nobody could get any, what few they did get were gone in 2 days. 2 pawn shops had zero. Mostly back to full stock now, and not flying off the shelves. I even spotted a used Bersa 380 Thunder 2 weeks ago...it’s in the living room...happened to show up just when I was wondering what to do with the cash I had saved up in $1 bills...yes I’m liking it...don’t think it was fired much at all, or someone cleaned it really well, and almost no slide wear...the jiminez is up for sale...
My brother in law worked there for over 40 years then retired. They called him a month ago asking him to come back for good $.
He’s staying retired.
Can’t build more. Costs a fortune. Lots of water treatment equipment involved.
