In all fairness, saying your religion is whatever you identify as at the moment makes a lot more sense than saying your gender is whatever you’re feeling at the moment. But yeah, I smell desperate backtracking on her Holocaust comments.

Jews consider themselves far more than that. Sons of Abraham. A race. Certainly an ethnic group.
She said she was of Jewish blood or heritage. It’s like saying you’re Native American. Prove it or you’ve culturally appropriated for the purpose of career advancement.
What strikes me as odd is the fact that she hasnt been called out by anyone in the TV/movie industry.
Somewhere along the line, way back in the early days of her fame, I remember seeing her as a guest on some show where she was explaining her stage name. She said something along the lines of, “Whoopi is a fart. Im a comedian and thats funny. Goldberg is because it sounds Jewish and I knew that when somebody was looking at a list of names I was more likely to get a call because they wouldnt know I was black.”
If she told that story once then she must have told it more times meaning there are hundreds of people in the industry that know this and are keeping quiet.

This is far too misunderstood people calling Jewish people a race. If that were true, which again it is not, there would not be black, Asian, Arab Jews and there most certainly are those.
Anyone can convert to Judaism, a religion. You cannot convert to a race.
