Because Biden "won" and they think they can safely drag this out now. It's like when ABC showed the picture of a young Obama smoking a joint just hours after the election ended, as a FU to the American people.
Notifying the DOJ will only make it disappear quicker. The DOJ will NOT prosecute Hunter Biden, nor ANY Democrat that could jeopardize their hold on power in Washington.

Hunter was doing big time deals since at least 2008, and the connected people he was talking to in these countries assured all those conversations were monitored.
In other words, it was known all along. They didn’t need a Laptop.
And the State Dept was having a security guard letting in Hunter’s Foreign partners thru a Fire / Emergency Entrance to avoid all the security protocols and public records that are attached to the (official) Building Entrance.
