It’s a cold day in hell when a leftist outlet like The Atlantic admits free speech online is actually a good thing.
Atlantic contributing writer Jeffrey Rosen published a May 2 piece praising Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s view of Twitter and free speech: “Elon Musk Is Right That Twitter Should Follow the First Amendment.” Musk’s perspective on remaking the censorship-obsessed platform into a public town square that encourages diversity of opinion is backed up by “[a] long history of free-speech jurisprudence,” Rosen said.

Dang. Polls must be horrible for the left.
I believe the Atlantic is seeing the light. If Biden does implement his ministry of truth, there will be a rebellion. The Atlantic doesn’t want to be on the wrong end by losing subscribers.
“The Atlantic doesn’t want to be on the wrong end by losing subscribers.”
I see no evidence of that. The Atlantic is run by true believers, just like CNN and MSNBC. Do you see any of those outlets trying to do what makes financial sense?
I just see them pushing the agenda.
Report Atlantic to that psycho Karen running the Ministry.
Did he perform Seppuku after admitting that?
You'd think that would be the case since it is the law of the land.
In WWII, Stalin lessened the persecution of the church so that more people would support the Soviet response to the Nazi invasion. He returned to his old ways after the war ended.
The left needs Twitter for its disinformation campaigns until they are back on top in terms of authoritarian power, then they will return to their old ways. I assume Elon knows this.
Oh HELL no.
Nobody owes you a living for ripping off material.
Wash my truck, I'll pay you $20.00.
Here we se the true purpose of the Disinformation Governance Board. DHS needs such an organization to coordinate its disinformation. Otherwise, stuff like this gets published, and may subvert the narratives of the ruling elite. Such subversion is a threat to homeland security.
Yep, Musk hopefully will reverse the censorship of conservatives by Twitter. Has nothing to do with the 1st Amendment, which prohibits Congress from passing laws that deny freedom of speech, freedom of the press and freedom of assembly.
The Atlantic is majority owned by Lauren Jobs.
The Atlantic was the first major media outfit that called for the sacking of Chris Cuomo over his corrupt handling of his brother's malfeasance. And that was the end of Chris Cuomo.
They don't walk the same line as CNN all the time.
Of course Jeffrey Rosen wants conservatives to ‘be fair’... the real question is why didn’t this assh*le demand Twitter be fair when liberals were running it and being hateful?
Why?
Because these people only care about ‘fair’ when they don’t have the upper hand.
You know I read this and thought it was disinformation. Seriously, get that witch a spoonful of sugar and tell her to to work!
Does Jeffrey Rosen think the New York Times, Washington Post and NPR should work on being less biased? Hell no.
But if Musk bought any of those biased, full of crap, corrupt one sided ‘news’ organizations Rosen would be in there praising Musk for being ‘fair’.
What BS.
the LEFT thinks they have a workaround.
identify the offenders so corrupt media and tech can punish them.
The Bill of Rights were written specifically to curtail the powers of government and the powers of government ONLY. There has been “Constitutional drift” such that some entities apart from government now are expected to respect (some aspects of) the first 10 amendments but that was never the Founding Fathers’ intention.
The proof of that is that the 13 original states ALL HAD STATE RELIGIONS. The State of New Hampshire had a formal and codified state religion UNTIL 1877 when it finally was obliged to do away with it owing to the ratification of the 14th Amendment, specifically its Equal Protection clause. Which would seem to fly in the face of the 1st Amendment’s protections of religion, except that state governments then WERE NOT obliged to respect the Bill of Rights.
The Founding Fathers had NO INTENTION that businesses or even state governments should ever have to respect the rights enumerated in the 1st Amendment to the US Constitution.
I heard other countries are planning to ban Twitter within their borders.
